OK so you have $800 in fees from me, label me a Power Seller, and things are going along OK. Once a month, maybe twice I spend a few hours listing and of those 40 maybe 3 or 4 sell. Worth it for a bit of cash, and you got $ 800
Now having apparently sold 100 items; I am supposed to spend a few hours every dammed week spending an extra $60 in order to relist. You are kidding right ? Your business model instantly alientates the one small percentage of the membership who actually make you a decent amount of revenue each month.
Completely bemused and will find something else to do as a hobby, one which will NOT involve giving you money each month. Well done.

I guess not much about eBay reminds me that Christmas spirit
Some of the value of stores has been diminished over time - up until recently it was the only way to access 30 day or GTC listings, and before that you either had to have a store or be registered as a business seller to access the variation format, but I still place significant value on the shop front and tools, though I am aware their value to others may not be very much, if anything at all, but if nothing else, running my stats through the fee illustrator shows that paying $50 pm for the store makes an average of $700 difference to the fees I'm charged every month.

Digi, you wouldn't really be saving $700 in fees because they always make sure they show the saving on listing fees (unless you've factored that in), and without a store you wouldn't pay for ALL your listings anyway. But you do get cheaper listing fees with a store if you go over your monthly allowance so that's another benefit of a store.
In certain categories the lower selling fees would soon make up for the store fee each month, especially where items don't cost much to post or they combine well. I sell craft so I still pay 9.5% in my basic store. I have AR and really appreciate it because I can have 800 listings in a basic store, and 1,600 for the next few months (800 is plenty to handle, thank you!!).
tippy, once you go over $12,000 they change your account from Individual to Business and it's a permanent change. Even if you only sell $10 worth in the next few years you'll always remain a business seller so you'll never again get AR (at least not on that account). I have no idea whether you're right about the $12K being in the last 12 months or whether it's per financial year, and I don't know whether it's even still $12K for the limit because there's no longer anything on the site about it and they could easily have changed it.

The fee illustrator shows what your total in fees would be for the same number of listings and sales, via 4 different options. I know there's a few bonus freebies that come around for non-store holders, but I personally don't have the time, inclination nor patience to have a business here revolving around that, nor would I be guaranteed to be able to access them, and even if I could 90% of the time, the savings are variable so that was disregarded in my own calculations (I'm pretty decent at math, most of the time, and even enjoy it on the odd occasion ).
Assuming 30 day / GTC listings were always available to non-store holders (which they weren't, but for the sake of ease), if I did not have my store subscription, I would be paying $678 in insertion fees alone, every month (I currently have 492 listings, it hovers between 490 - 500 most of the time, and I often do one-off custom listings as well, so that $678 is give or take).
That's before the difference in FVF is added - most of my categories I only get a 1.4% fee break because they charge 8.5%, sometimes I list in a category that is charged at 7% so I get a 2.9% break on those items, so with my sales volume, I pay about $75-$100 less in FVF than I would if I was paying the full non-store rate, which is a minor saving all things considered, but not exactly an amount to sneeze at, and even that makes the $50 subscription worth it.
However, as I mentioned, I place value on even just having a store front, the banner, a curated and maintained identity on eBay that is as consistent as possible, which is significantly easier to do with a store than it is without one. I would get all that whether I listed 5 items or 500, so I do not consider the store subscription to = X amount per listing.
It's maybe a YMMV thing, though. (As in, column A, column B, all adds up the same 😄 ).

When you get an invite to open a store with fees waived for 4 months they're free
EDIT: sorry, tried to post the link but didn't work
