Received funds, sent item, funds then put on temporary hold after item received

How do I handle this? The items were purchased on the 29/12 and the funds have been put on temporary hold today.

"15/01/2015 20:24 AEDT - Buyer: Comics were listed as Amazing Spider-Man (1963 1st Series) Lot of 7 (#363, 380 / Maximum Carnage). The items I received were: 1992 #363#369 1993 #380#381#382 1994 #390#393. At best these comics are worth $2.00 each total cost of $14.00 yet I was charged $52.00 + $9.50 postage. These items were purely purchased because they were published in 1963 I would like a FULL REFUND because I was not suppled what was advertised."

That the buyer decided to go all super sleuth after the purchase is all kinds of annoying.

Everything regarding this listing was described perfectly. The 1963 part of the equation is relating to which series the comics belong too. To date there have been three Amazing Spider-man series, the first being the 1963 series, the second beginning in 1999 and a third began last year in April. The purchased comics belong to the 1963 series, hence the title, Amazing Spider-Man (1963 1st Series) Lot of 7 (#363, 380 / Maximum Carnage).

The period which these were published is stated in the item specifics under era, 1990's. I have linked the listing below to show this.

Regarding the price, it was an auction, the buyer chose to pay that price. What do I do now? They now have the items and I have nothing. Can not find anything on eBay to help me solve this.

I don't see what the OP has done wrong - the description specifics clearly say that the comic was printed in the 1990s,

I understand about the series too.

I don't know a thing about comics but an easy Google search on one of the comics reveals that the one I specified was printed in Sept 1993.   If I was the buyer, I would have done the research before bidding.

When are we going to make buyers responsible for what they buy?

You allow returns for change of mind purchases so tell the buyer to send them back and you will refund the purchase price.

It might be worthwhile briefly explaining to the buyer that the series is called the 1963 series , which ran from 1963 until the late 1990's and as per the item specifics they were clearly advertised as being published in the 1990s but if they are not happy with their purchase then they are more than welcome to return them.

"Printed in the 90's but belong to the 63 series" would have made it crystal clear to the buyer.

The buyer incorrectly assumed printed in the 1960's.

Ask for a return and give a full refund. Perhaps make future listings clearer so novice buyers are clear on print date.

Unfortunately the buyer has already escalated a dispute claim via Paypal, taking it out of the hands of eBay. Pretty annoying as I'm always more than happy to answer questions to clarify things such as this. Happy to issue refunds when I am at fault or there is a problem of some sort but the buyer never bothered to contact me.

Have since edited any item details that may cause confusion of this kind in the future.

At least with him opening the dispute in PayPal, he is responsible for the return postage costs. He also has to send them back via trackable means. DO NOT refund until you have the items back and checked them over. Request that he send the tracking number to you after postage.
