Reporting a listing that you suspect may be fraudulent

I have concerns about a listing that was placed on Ebay today

I followed the "Report Item" link which gives three drop downs but does NOT allow anywhere to give an explanation of what my concerns are.

The fact that the listing directs enquiries to a direct email address will probably get the listing closed, with a warning that that is against policy, but my real concerns are that the listing is a direct rip of this listing, which was sold by the Salvo's in Victoria in the last couple of days

While it may have been a mistake purchase and somebody is trying to unload their muistake quickly, today's listing doesn't even say what state of Australia the Tasmanian registered truck is in, which to me only rings more alarm bells.

Is there some way I can get the additional info to the right department at Ebay (or can somebody here who knows who to contact do so)?

Why doesn't the Ebay form have provision for explanation of additional relevant details when reporting concerns about listings?

Regards,  Kevin

Re: Reporting a listing that you suspect may be fraudulent

Kevin, with Help and Contact at the top of the page - Select Buying

Then 'other buying problems'.  Report a seller is under that one.

Go through help n contact at the top then contact us and select report a member.

You will then be given the opprotunity to describe the problem and be sure to include item numbers.

To me it looks like someone selling it in Tasmania probably realized it's not suitable for their purpose.

And they simply aren't eBay savvy.

Salvos sold two of those trucks in the last week for over $13,000 each

Yet this listing starts the bidding at $265.88    ?????????

I see your concerns

Re: Reporting a listing that you suspect may be fraudulent

Thanks Kopenhagen5,

I am following the instructions to Contact Us, but not seeing "Report A Member" in the options, or the drop downs below the options.

Imastawka,

It appears that the Salvo's sold the same truck twice - ie: the auction bidder didn't come through, so they relisted it as a Buy It Now which subsequently sold very quickly.

The trucks have coincidentally all travelled 172556km but today's llisting has removed the Vin Number from the details. The alarm bells get louder.

That is probably the intention - the truck is not likely to be back in Tassie yet, given that it was in Noble Park on the 10th March. If you try to cut and past the email address, it is actually an image and not text (thus bigpond won't come up in a search), suggesting the seller has more savvy than appears.

Re mesage 4:

Imastawka,

That was the form I used before I came here. The problem is that it doesn't give you an opportunity to explain why you think it is fraudulent, or to supply the overlapping listing details. From that report they are more likely to be pinged for using an email address in the listing than checked for what appears to possibly be fraud (and it probably needs to be checked whether the account has been partially hacked to make the listing).
