I sold something today and i was notified by paypal it had been paid. As soon as I marked the item as posted I noticed it disappeared from my paid items list. I happened to go in my waiting payment list and saw the item there which had been refunded. I didn't initiate a refund for this and the item is marked as posted already. I was unable to undo the "posted" status.
I checked in Paypal and yes it has been refunded, can't figure out why or how. I've had no notification from Paypal about it. I messaged the buyer saying payment has been reversed and the item will not be posted until payment is received. Luckily I had not sent it yet.
Normally I would have just posted the item and not checked. I still don't understand how this can be refunded by paypal without my requesting it and why I haven't received a notification from paypal that it was reversed.
Any ideas?

Have another look at the drop down menu beside the item, there should be an option that says "mark as not sent" then unmark as payment received, I just checked a couple of paid and sent items, they even have tracking info attached, but the option was there had I need it, if they work, resend the invoice, the buyer will then be able to pay again.
Hopefully you can sort it out with the buyer, see what they say, it may have been an issue with their PP account or credit card funds.

That is the strange thing, the item is marked as payment refunded, I dind't have the option of marking it as "not sent" it was not there on the drop down. Even when I go into the detail of the sale, it will not allow me to untick the "sent" item box, it just puts it back as sent.
I emailed the buyer straight away but have had no reply.
The whole thing was just strange as the refund didn't happen straight away, it happened a few hours later as soon as I marked as sent. You would think that Paypal would send you a notice to say it has been reversed.
I managed to find a way to mark the item as not sent by going to the item sale history and it allowed me to do it there. I have already sent an invoice so I just have to wait.
We'll see what happens otherwise I'll need to open an unpaid item case if I don't get paid.

Have you tried to change in both myebay selling and sales manager ??
Has it been refunded or reversed in paypal ? I'd get on the phone and ring paypal direct to sort out, and not second guess what has occurred.
That being said, lots of weird glitches happen on Friday.
Listing photos have been appearing and disappearing all day.

I think there was some glitch yesterday afternoon/eveing when they were doing site maintenance.
I have two reversed payments.

I'm on the phone with them now.
Glitch caused it. They are asking me to now invoice them to make payment again.
I've sent the item 😞

Paypal have known about this since yesterday but have not been told what to do as yet.
I am getting a discretionary payment.

I also sold something on 12/4/13 on a BUY IT NOW.
The buyer paid immediately through Paypal & then the payment was automatically reversed.
I didn't log into my Paypal account at any time during the payment or the reversal, I didn't authorise the reversal & now it is showing as a Refund in my seller account list.
I definitely didn't refund the amount & the note against the reversal in paypal says that it is due to a dispute between me and the buyer. I emailed the buyer immediately & have not received any response about why they are disputing the payment.
I emailed eBay & they can't explain & told me to contact Paypal.
I contacted Paypal yesterday & they haven't responded.
The whole system is stuffed!

Normally the option is there or you can go into the sale detail screen and un-tick the sent box but on this occasion it was missing and nothing seemed to work. The customer has repaid the item and I am about to mark it as posted again and see what happens. If it happens again I will cancel this sale.
The strange thing is that Paypal didn't send any notification of the reversal. So i am now concerned that this could happen anytime and we wouldn't know about it and loose the money if we send the item.
I can't post until Monday anyway so it gives me one day to see if anything goes strange again.

Don't worry. It shouldn't happen again. It was over a half hour period yesterday when they were doing a software upgrade on eBay.
Call Paypal and, even if the buyer doesn't pay again, they should issue a discretionary payment.
