I listed a laptop up for sale for $450 minimum bid and $800 Buy it Now. I got a reply from someone asking what the final price was so I just said $800. they sent me back a message saying:
"i want the item to be posted out Via AUSTRALIAN POST EXPRESS OR Via AUSTRALIAN STANDARD POST OFFICE and it will be cheaper, i will offer you the sum AU $950 for the item and the shipment kindly send me your full bank details or paypal money request to my email so that i will have to make out the payment immediate into your account.
Thank You."
Obviously, I'm not going to give them my full bank account details and I'm not going to ship it until the money is actually in my account. I asked if they could just pay normally through Ebay and they just sent the same message again. I'm pretty sure it's a scam or a bot, but also just want to check in on what you guys think.

idk_ibuystuff, this is one of the most prolific scams that runs perennially on eBay.
The best things to do are:
- don't communicate any further with this person;
- don't give your email to this person;
- don't give your bank account details to this person;
- don't give your name to this person;
- add this person to your blocked buyers list;
- check your buyer requirements so that you exclude eBay members who have a delivery address in countries you don't want to post to, and also eBay members who have a history of unpaid items.
You may need to edit your listing to ensure that it's not showing as able to be delivered internationally.
If anything similar occurs in future, don't engage in communication with the person at all.
If you have inadvertently given any of your details to this person, you can expect to be bombarded with phishing emails from now on, so hopefully you've not put yourself in that position.

they also target ebay sellers with low feedback, hoping to catch someone unawares.

It's a long running scam tactic.
They will either pay with a stolen Paypal account,stolen credit card details or will inform you that the money is
being held by eBay or their agent until they receive it.
Or they will use a fake shipping agent Email.
You will lose the laptop and get nothing in return.
Don't communicate with and if you have clicked on anything that they've sent you then you need to run your
Spyware and Anti Virus,(they will try and load Keyloggers or Trojans to get your log in details if you click on any
of their links).
Report the Email address given as a hijacked account.
Report the eBay ID as a scammer.

How would you love to get hold of these low cretins?
Scam that most sensitive pucker part of their backsides with 60 grit sandpaper and then a good measure of turps!!
I can picture it - two legs in the air, dragging their bums across the ground like some dogs do. Anyway, it's a comforting thought for me ๐

Ask them to pay by Western Union, problem solved.

LMAO - Scam the scammer and resell the laptop later to someone a bit more honest!
