I thought it was just me having issues, from about 8.30pm, but it turns out someone else was too. I was trying to list stuff and kept having major problems. Then just before midnight, I couldn't get past the "this web page is not available" message....it was completely dead.
Phone app was no help. I could see my watch list and current listings, but couldn't revise or add a new listing, the app kept throwing me out and logging me out.
I thought maybe I had contracted a virus, despite not going to any sites that I don't normally go to. So, I ran every malware scanner under the sun, did a hard disk and registry clean, rebooted, installed all the new windoze updates, rebooted the router, tried several different browsers, tried DH's computer, and nothing.
Than about half hour ago I got a message from another forum member asking if I was having issues because they couldn't log on.
So glad it wasn't just me because I was all set to reformat my computer tomorrow!!
Did everyone else have issues, or was it a sporadic thing?

Communication! eBay does not know the meaning.
I had all my listings finish at 8:30pm Perth time (3 id's worth) so you can imagine no last minute bidding which I normally do, so well done eBay, you lose as well as me and I lost all my free listings as well which I always use in the last couple of hours so they are all gone.
You would have thought eBay would have given an extra day to us for the 150 freebies we lost due to this so called 'technical glitch' that shut down most users all over the world.
What I find laughable is I was sent a feeback survey to complete this morning! ha!

Thats **bleep** and obviously wrong
??????
In the past when similar site outages have occurred, eBay (eventually) credit the auction/FVF fees paid by sellers, allow transaction cancellations for auctions, and offer to remove any poor feedback etc received as a result of the issue, so hopefully they will do the same this time around.

Yes, as DG pointed out eBay normally offer some form of amends to those sellers directly affected.
Gosh it was quite a lengthy outage this time.
Iin the middle of it all my neutral that was due to disappear in a week or so, disappeared slightly early
Whilst I am very distressed about the loss of Free Auctions for stores .... I was actually more frustrated not being able to log in to the Discussion Boards and vent about the outage -

Extemely disappointed with the poor service from eBay. I had intended buying an iphone on the night for my wife but could not bid because the site was down and then unable to do so the next morning because of work. I missed out on a saving of $50 because of eBay and I believe that they should have extended the offer another 12 hours (at least) to accomodate those affected. What a great way to celebrate your 15th birthday by treating your customers with utter contempt. 😞
