Selling account restricted permanently

Hi all,

My selling privileges were restricted yesterday because of the new ebay ratings. My DSR was very good but i had several cancelled transactions because of an item that i ran out of stock.

I know that i should not have something listed that i did not have avaialble however this was only for a short period (7 days). Most of the buyers were happy to wait for this dvd but there were some that wanted it cancelled and refunded. Now i feel like i should not have communicated to these buyers as i would not be in the position i am in right now. But yes, i advised all these buyers that i ran out of this title and i would have it within 7 days but i am happy to refund it if required.

I have never used the ebay inventory manager tool as i have my own system that i pay a subscription for to manage my stock levels and ordering.

I contacted Ebay customer service yesterday and was advised from their call centre in the Phillipines that this decision was final and irreversable. I argued that i was a loyal ebay customer for 10 plus years. Had paid all my fees (approx $500.00 per month) on time without delay, had feedback of >99% and my DSR's were of a high standard. I also mentioned that my rating changed on 20/08/14 and that i had 20 days to try and fix this before my account was suspended. Their response to this was "we understand but the decision is final". I then asked to be transferred to comeone who was based in Australia and who had the authority to do something about this. The response was that they support the Australian opertations and there was no one else i could contact.

I have sent an email via Ebay last night in the hope that it would get escalated somewhere but the call centre i spoke with.

Has anyone else been in this position and if so who did you contact and what was the outome?

Help and assistance needed please?

Regards

John (In2 DVD)

Thanks for the info.  I did try the snipping tool and paint - but couldn't paste it here.  I found out this morning that I don't seem to be able to paste text either.  Probably have to clear out browsing history and see if that fixes it.  Otherwise phone call to my IT guy.

It's a long shot, but is your computer on all the time with your browser window open? Mine is and I know when the browser needs to be shut down and reopened, I can't highlight anything, or cut and paste. Even double clicking on a single word to highlight it doesn't work.

As I said, a long shot, but thought I'd mention it in case it was the same for you.

No my computer is not on all the time - it does get switched off at night (unless I fall asleep on the couch!!), and if I'm going to be out for several hours during the day, off it goes - can't see much point in using/paying for power if I don't need to.

Strangely though, it only seems to be happening here - on eBay.  I can copy/paste, grab links everywhere else except here.  Just tried to put up the link to my FB page - NO it won't paste.  So not sure what is going on.

Thanks for trying to help.

My OH has issues with eBay (he doesn't use the forums). Every other site he looks at is fine, but eBay tends to have a hissy fit and blows out his CPU to 100%. Every couple of weeks it does this and the only way to fix it is, uninstall Google Chrome, delete the registry file fragments, reinstall Chrome.

I'm a bit more computer savvy than he is and I can't for the life of me work out why it does this. He has Win 8 on his computer and I have Win 7 and I have none of those issues despite using the same browser.

Have you tried a different browser to see if it works on there? If it does, might pay to uninstall and reinstall your browser (including deleting registry file fragments, which you can do with a free program called Wise Registry Cleaner from download.com - run it, delete everything it finds and run it again and delete whatever it finds)

The way to put the screenshot or the one from the snipping tool is to do so via the blue text in my post.

After you paste in to paint or after you use the snipping tool you save the image,(which then goes into your

pictures folder).

You then insert the image from your pictures folder via the tree symbol at the top of the reply post,(you can't just

paste the image in).

Thanks, I will give it a go.  It is definitely only as issue with eBay forum.

(Giggle)  - maybe the mods are attempting to get me outta here...!!!

I was going to put an emoticom up at the end of the last sentence - got a heck of a surprise when I saw Catspj's has her own personal supply...LOL!!!

Thanks go-tazz.  I really did all those things - but it is just with the forum, I can't do it.  Anywhere else - not a problem.  Tomorrow when life is more organized (I can only hope) I will give all suggestions a go.

You may suddenly find screen shots all over the place - with a baseline "I did it, I can do it" - that'll keep the mods busy, deleting all my new found skills.

Yes Hello and welcome

Fair to say. judging by this thread and others, that ebay won't be an option for a lot of us soon

Don't really need to fuss too much about the details coz the bottom line is ebay is going one way and the rest of us small and medium size operations are going the other

Question is, we know where ebay and all the biggies are going, but where are we going?

Australia needs it's own viable option

One that caters for Australian buyers and sellers, and operates as an Australian business, paying taxes here etc.

If it is sold and advertised right it should work, just operatinfg in a different space to feebay

There would be plenty going for it vs feebay, just needs to be done properly - not half **bleep**d

This won't happen tomorrow, it will only come about once feebay gets rid of enough of us who still want to trade online and will form a critical mass.

We need someone with deep pockets to have a go - deep as in Dick Smith et al

Might be a long dry spell inbetween a new, viable entity and feebay but sad to say I think thats our lot

Good luck all

Agreed. eBay want to be looking at a long line of backs while they suck up to the big corporations.

Obviously John Donahue has never heard, or if he has, absorbed the truism, 'don't bite the hand that feedeth you'.

The sooner we can get an online site that is a SERIOUS competitor to eBay the better off we will all be.  eBay can then have its major corporations and sellers from China, whilst the rest of us can pick up from where we left off - making a few dollars, and having some fun doing it.

BTW I am trying to get another site to set up with a .au on the end.

yes hello again

Just to be clear on the nature of a new site

It has to be well funded, supported and ADVERTISED

I think thats where the current alternatives have been let down

You can't rely on people finding an alternative site on their own, they need to be told, sold and told about it again and again

Think about ebay in the early days, all those world-wide "news" stories about the crazy things being sold and the crazy prices (think toast with image of Jesus etc.), that caught everyones imagination and . . .  dollars!

Any new site needs support - the kind that costs lots of $$$

Not really that hard to start a new site, theres already a few out there, the hard part is getting people to actively use it and thats what needs an ongoing, large,  financial commitment

Personally, I'm not up to it, thats why I suggested Dick Smith - thats the kind of $$ I think you would need

Might have to wait until someone of that ilk can see the opportunity
