Hi Guy's

I have a question I have a featured Store and im close to grwoing out of the featured store but the next jump up is a anchor store but the price jump os to high.

Do you think Ebay should have a option inbetween the featured  and anchor store subscriptions for those sellers who are not up to the anchor store.

Your feedback is welcome

If you're only selling media, I would go back to a basic store. You're paying 10c each for 300 'free' listings, versus 5c if they're not 'free'.

It's a line ball decision I'll admit but the extra 300 free listings account for $15 (or half) of the difference in price between Basic and Featured store subscriptions.

If you are turning over $1500 per month then the saving of 1% represents another $15 so even steven there.

(that $1500 includes postage too).

I know my sales patterns make it a marginally profitable exercise to stay with Featured rather than go back to basic.

A lot of that is to do with postage costs which can be quite a large part of book sales.

I think it would be a lot less for the OP as trading cards post a lot cheaper (unless registered).

@OP - a second store is as simple as signing up a new (second) username and then subscribing to the store of choice.

Do the sums first as you may find it's not cost effective.

Also, don't forget about the complexity of running 2 stocks across 2 separate stores.

i have a basic store and i currently have around 700 listings

Basic store for me worked well while i had the "3 free relistings" tickbox
I lost the tickbox about 3-4 weeks ago so once my current batch of free relistings runs through i will have to go for a featured store.

Last month was the first time i had to actually pay for listings (was only about 50 @ 0.05c per listing) and im nearly out of my 200 already for this month

in the next month or so it will be cheaper for me to go featured store and then pay 5c per listing over the 500

eBay's Fee Illustrator will give you a direct comparison of all the store subscriptions, making it quite easy to see which is the most cost effective option for your listing and sales volume once you enter your main category, sale and postage price etc (you'll have to estimate approximate sales for the additional items you have to list, though).

I have around 2000 listings spread across two featured stores. Average sale price of $38.00 and reasonably good sales numbers. It is still more cost effective for me to pay the extra listing fees rather than go to anchor store, although if I wanted to increase listings much more, the anchor store might be an option.

I find the 2000 listings keep me fairly busy and I couldnt really handle many more without employing some-one. I know the trading cards would be easier to manage, but could you realistically keep up with 6000-7000 listings ??? assuming they sell well thats a lot of listing, filing, questions to answer, items to find and pack etc. ( even with combined post orders for multiple sales )

It might be worth recording how much time you spend on ebay now with around 350 listings. 7000 listings will take 20 times as long unless you can increase efficiency. If you spend 3 hours on ebay per week now, you will need 60 hours to manage 7000 listings. If you can improve efficiencies in listing, packing and mailing you may get that down a bit ........but ???

I have just had a closer look at your business. You currently have just over 300 listings and 79 feedbacks for the past month. If around half of your clients leave feedback you may be making perhaps 150 sales per month on your 300 listings. Some of your listings are "one offs" and some multiple quantity.

If you increase your listings to 3000 at any one time ( assuming you sell some one offs from your 5000 items and restock with new items) and assuming you still make sales on 50% of your listings ( current average ) you should make around 1500 sales per month, 375 per week, 75 per day.  ( 5 day working week ).   Assuming some of these are multiple item sales with combined post, thats an awfull lot of listing, filing, searching for sold items and packing.

That sounds like a lot of work day in day out.

Why? You will pay 10c per each of the additional 300 listings. Unless the lower FVF is worth 5c per listing, you will simply be gifting eBay money. All to get perceived 'free' listings.

You might also like to sample edit a few of your listings and see if the 3 free auto-relists magically reappears, which I have found to be the case.

ive had a closer look at this tonight since someone posted the fee illustrator, and you are right. Its not worth it at all for me to go featured store

i currently have around 700 listings, and even if i have to pay 5c for each of the listings over my 200, thats still only an extra $25 per month.

I do plan to list more. Im aiming to get to the 1000 active listings over the next couple of months so perhaps it will be worth it then

as for sample editing, ive tried everything and it looks like its gone for good. The tickbox is even gone for my other ID which has only 63 feedback and 60 auction listings (sold only 100 items on this ID)
