Hi I use paypal for all of my transaction. I recently sold an item and the buyer contacted me stating they are having trouble with paypal and want to put money into my bank account. Is it safe to give my bank account details?
Thanks,
Rebecca.

I've been sending bank details to every buyer of mine since I started selling, without any problems at all.
However, if your interenet banking log in is your bank account number, and your password is your ebay nickname or name, you may have problems - so make sure you have a strong password.

(I don't like the new quote system)
If you have any apprehension then why not set up a bank account that is used for just eBay stuff. NAB have a 'fee free' account. Then, if someone wants your bank account details you can give them that account number and know that your primary bank account is not at risk.

Not that long ago people used to send cheques to strangers (some people still do!). They have BSB and A/c#.
What your buyer is asking is no different. We send similar details to our own buyers regularly.

Cheques also have the drawer's signature. Far more risky.
My account details are included automatically.

If you don't want to send them your bank details they can have mine lol.
I don't mind if somebody makes a malicious deposit into my account!
I have my bank details in every place possible, in my listings, in the winning bidder email and in checkout.

Hi Rebecca,
I accept bank deposits and never had a problem. As others have said there is no need to worry. Always ensure your log in and password information is secure.
