Have a good read of the Spring Seller Release 2014 at the top of the message listing before deciding if you really want to invest too much time or money in eBay.

Also, this is a decision for you to make, noone else knows your financial limitations, costs etc, so you need to work out a viable P&L and see if giving a store a go is the right thing for you.

I would suggest at only $20 a month it would be worth a trial.

You can check your current average sales in the Fee Illustrator to see what your fees would be with a store subscription.

Hi DAB,           If you have sold $3300 in nine weeks from a new account with no previous experience it would suggest you have a product buyers want at the right price. Finding the right products to sell  is probably the most important part of establishing a succesfull ebay business. ( along with offering great service to your customers. )  You can start with a basic store to see how it goes and upgrade to a higher level later. The stores have better systems in place for stock control, record keeping for tax, invoicing plus  good till cancelled listings  etc. so this could be helpfull to you. If you sell more than $10,000 in any one year, ebay pass your details onto the ATO so you will need to keep good records  for tax purposes and maybe speak to an accountant before you go too far as you may be able to set your store up in joint names or similar to split your income with a partner for tax etc.

I would support Cqs warning that it would be best to have a good read of the sellers forum posts before commiting too much time and energy to ebay. Many experienced sellers are looking for alternatives to ebay as it has become a very difficult and unstable place to try and run a business. Maybe we have all just been here too long and become a little jaded.  If you are enthusiastic and positive you may build a great business here. Ebay still has a lot of positives. It offers the greatest online customer base and excellant record and stock control systems. It is really the only game in town at present. Good luck with the new venture.

Aside from the Spring Seller's release....

The main advantage of a store is the included 30-day BIN listings.  If you think your items will sell better with BIN then go for it.  There are no free auctions for stores except for the very occasional special offers, which are rare.  Auctions start at $1.50 insertion fee

You can cancel a store at any time so there is no long-term commitment, and you get your fees back for the part of the month that you didn't have the store.  So you could try for awhile and see how it goes.  There is a list of conditions in the ebay help pages.
