Hello, I'm new to selling on eBay. I made my first sale today. It's a high-value item requiring signature on delivery, but the buyer wants the product delivered to a PO box. When I go to print the shipping label through eBay, it gives me the option to purchase signature on delivery, but as I understand it, Australia Post is not required to obtain a signature when an item is delivered to PO box.
I considered sending the item by registered post, but according to my research that is only for flexible items, and the packaged I want to send, while small, is rigid and could be damaged.
Is anyone aware of another suitable postage option? I am thinking I may have to ask the buyer for a residential address.
I would really appreciate any advice.

Australia Post will put a card in the PO box, and you go to the counter and collect and sign for the parcel.
But, there is always a but, and it applies to PO boxes and your home letter box, it depends on if the postie actually complies with the signature request. My favourite was the time I had a $800 coin (signature required) article dumped on the doorstep, and a $10 rubbish item taken back to the PO the next day for collection. So yes they can, the question is will they.
But I would definitely use the PO box if thats what they have offered, very little chance of that getting picked up by a random

I have an Aust Post PO Box and regularly have to sign for parcels.
Posting to a PO Box is, in my opinion, one of the safest shipping methods for sellers.

I often post rigid items in a small box, less than 2cms thick, about the size of a standard envelope, always use registered post sticker, no problems.
(some post offices stretch the truth to suit themselves, my post office lady gives me used boxes for me to re-use to post items but a friend's local PO told her she had to buy a new posting box from APO and could not re use a box)

"I made my first sale today"
Your sales indicate you've sold two items.
Be sure to take out "Extra Cover" when posting the high value items.
Have the buyers got good feedback ?

The buyers could only have good feedback
But
The OP should look if they have false positives
And the buyer's feedback left for others
When I had a PO Box, I'd have a card left in my box if the item required my signature
And the staff (who all knew me and had done for several years) still asked for ID
Thankfully
I'd hate to have been spending all that money on a PO Box and have things handed over to any random

Thank you, everyone, for the replies. They have been very helpful and encouraging. It sounds like it's probably not going to be much of an issue. I'll sort something out when I post it tomorrow. I'll update when the item is delivered or if there is a problem.

I made another sale within the last few hours.
Also, I have a buyer refusing to pay and pressuring me to send the goods anyway -- not sure if that one's showing up as a sale. Just waiting the four calendar days from invoicing to cancel that one.
Yes, the buyer in question does appear to have good feedback. It seems legit. I will send it tomorrow. Thanks for the advice.

.
Just a note on this one, just in case you are not aware, dont send another invoice, as that starts the 4 day clock again.

Make sure you only cancel with buyer did not pay (or similar wording)
And put them on your blocked buyer list
Obviously a scammer hoping that as you are new to selling, that you won't know how things work
Ignore them, report the non payment when it allows and block them
