So how many free listings a month do I get?

I don't have a store and I have 30 listings at the moment (listed for free) and they are all "good till canceled". Do I get 30 NEW free listings a month, or 30 TOTAL free listings? In other words, on March 1, can I start listing again for free even though I already have 30 items for sale?

Call me bemused.

It's 30 years since I grew out of that.

Unfortunately I can't revise GTC to anything else - the option isn't available.

I did notice when I was first creating listings that some listings allowed me to choose a time period with 3 free relistings, and others (even in the same category) just didn't have the "free relist" option available.

Maybe I should start another ID?

End them and relist. You will be no worse off as they will tick up a relist from your allocation every 30 days anyway.

Attaching a credit card and/or linking to an established account only raises your limit to 30 (from 10). I fired up one of my unused accounts yesterday and when I requested a limit increase it said by linking it to an established account will raise the limit to the same as the established account, in my case, 510. I remember seeing that when I created my second account. Sad thing is, it doesn't.

I'm actually a bit confused about it because I've have a seller account for years, and called ebay to "link" this ID with the new one, in order to raise my listing allowance immediately. I was told I now have 100 listings a month and I guess I assumed that would be "free" listing. Anyway, thanks everyone for the advice.

(This being my other ID!)

No, your listing limit is an entirely different thing to your free listing allocation.  As a non-store ID you get 40 freebies, if you have a limit of 100 and currently have 30 listings active, then you will be able to add 70 more this month, however, only 40 of those will be free, the rest will cost you 50c each ($1.50 for auctions).

Not meaning to complicate the issue and maybe a little off track, but thought it worth mentioning for others reading this thread - consider also that Listing Limits and Number of (Free or otherwise) Listings are quite different things on a new account.

Eg.  Your listing limit may be 30.  If you List 3 items, each with a quantity available of 10, then you have used your allocated 30 limit, regardless of how many Free listings you get.

Re: So how many free listings a month do I get?

Actually, both auctions and Buy It Now are $1.50.

I'm wondering if the reason I can't see the "3 free relistings" is because I sometimes use "sell similar item" to create a new listing. If I didn't select that option on the original listing then maybe that's why it doesn't appear as an option on the new listing.

Another thing... this page says that the free relistings don't count towards the free listings for the month, so in effect you could have lots more than 30 active free listings at once:

http://pages.ebay.com.au/help/sell/fees.html#basic

"If you set up automatic relisting for your item, you'll pay an insertion fee for the initial listing. If your item doesn't sell, it will then be relisted up to three times with no additional insertion fee and without counting towards your free listing entitlement for the month."
