I had an inquire to list two DVD's separately as a BIN for someone specific and included their ID in the title and the description.
Someone else then bought them.
So how do I get this buyer to cancel the transaction so I don't incur a defect and a possible red dot please?
Then had another inquire for a single DVD and set that up as an Auction and sold to them as the highest bidder,(that's how I'll do it
from now on to avoid someone buying it as a BIN).

Nothing you can do.
If they pay send them and if not open a dispute.
When listing a buy now for a specific member put their ID in the title ie listing for ******* ONLY
Then put in the desrciption
Listing as per discussed for *******
And for the photo write the buyers name on a piece of paper and take a photo to add to the listing.
Then if anyone else buys it you can send them the paper with that members ID as seen in the photo

Spaklz - seller did all that you said in the listing.
I would cancel/refund and explain why.
'
Re-list and put in the listing 'if you are not 'buyer id' do not purchase
as the sale will not be honoured

Only problem is, the buyer will probably trash their feedback and stars 😞

Probably. They were pig-ignorant to buy in the first place.
And ebay wonders why you want to sell off-ebay. Really?

Ok,thanks.
They paid by Echeque so how do I refund?
I'll see how I go,(as they are a small time seller themselves maybe they'll understand).
Is their an option from their side such as bought by mistake or something similar?

If you just go ahead and cancel without their permission, you will get a defect. You could always ask them to cancel their payment. If they are reasonable they might. If not, you'll have to wait for the e-cheque to clear I think. If they do agree to a cancellation, use the buyer made a mistake option (or whatever it says). If you use the out of stock option, you will get defected.

what sheepie said.
Makes 'em triple pig ignorant IMO - 1st a seller themselves
2nd to buy what wasn't for them
and to top it all off 3rd to pay by e-cheque!!!!!!

they way I have done this in the past is to have a BIN listing with 'best offer' included. You then set the BIN price at about ten times the actual price agreed to with the buyer. Then, you let them know the item number and tell them to make an offer at the agreed price which you will then accept.
No-one is likely to pay 10 X the normal price for an item. Having the 'best offer' feature lets you reject offers from anybody other than the buyer that the listing is intended for.
No need to put the buyers name in the title, no need for the words "private listing" in the title and description. No need to run auctions that the enquiring buyer might not win. Just make the BIN price extravagantly high enough that nobody would pay that price.

Yes you could ask them to cancel, however I think I would prefer a defect than a neg and trashed stars. Which IMHO could be done purely out of spite.
Buyers have just about any excuse they like for cancelling purchases these days so highly likely they could nominate "bought by mistake", or "the cat did it", " my computer took control of my mind and body" . All pretty good excuses these days.
