Something New - Check Your Dashboard!

While on the phone to eBay (re other thread) I asked them about a 'defect' I had received due to 'late shipment rate'.

It wasn't from the buyer - but from eBay (the bots had picked it up.)

I regularly allow a buyer to purchase over a 2 week timeframe and then combine shipping, so item originally listed as envelope postage went in a tracked satchel. I let them know that it was at 'buyer's request'....and I have been doing this for years, without a problem.

They told me 'things are changing' (fiddling)....with more to come....and I wiill have to contact them every time to get a defect removed...

Is there a more unfair defect system than ebay's?

Buyer asked if I could wait posting it for a week as they were on holidays.

Only way you can get away with that automatically with tracked mail is if they also delay payment. Once payment i smade the clock is ticking. If not tracked then you have to remind buyers not to tick no in "did this item arrive by?" box

Thank you so much for binging this to everyone's attention.

I just checked mine...A shipment I made to Western Australia was regarded as late delivery...by Ebay...all due to the slowness of Australia Post! The buyer was happy.

So does that mean I have to contact ebay to get this removed, rectified?

Kind regards

yes had same thing happen, its important to check them shipping defects done by them and and ring ebay up to get defects removed. Unfortunately if the parcel arrives outside of ebays shipping period that they assume is acceptable then we the seller get the defect. Even though it is out of our hands and is the responsibility of the courier.

I had my defect removed and as the ebay rep told me, their system only checks when the parcel arrives but doesn't go into depth to see to see if an attempted delivery has been made prior to that date.

The more people ring up and complain just like the ratings sytem rort then the more likely ebay will try to change the way this new defect works against sellers. I tried to explain the dumb logic to the ebay rep over the phone that a seller can't be held responsible for the duration of the parcels arrival once we post out within our time frame and they agreed but said its the way it is at the moment and the ebay call assistant is the option to go to ask for any unfair defects to be removed.

I called ebay and the service was great. Removed immediately! I explained it is not my fault that Australia Post is so slow even with tracking and signature and my rating is 100 percent. So unfair that honest sellers get defects out of their control
