I was advised to sticky tape stamps to bubble bags when posting something to avoid risk. Now someone else is telling me they will reject the postage if you do that, because they will think you have reused a stamp and needed tape to stick it. Is this true?

AM WROTE: If rejected only because of tape - which means they won't send it on to the recipient, then they can't send it back to sender either.
I was responding to your "rejection" theory post am - perhaps read what you wrote, and you will realise how confused it is.

IF Aust Post sorters are going to reject a letter with correct postage because it has tape on the stamps, and redeliver it to the sender... what is the point in doing that?
Doesn't confuse me.
I don't believe there is any rule that states you can't put tape over stamps to secure them if necessary.

I don't think it is. Who told you that?

None of mine have ever come back undelivered.
And I cover the whole stamp. I take them to the PO
and they just throw them in the bag
I receive lots of letters where the stamp is not cancelled

I have often used Sticky tape over stamps even on the plastic satchels just to make sure they don;t come off. especially large or irregular items in the satchels.
Was not even aware you couldn't do that!!!
I have also submitted these satchels with stamps and sticky tape attached then Registered the parcel at Aust Post.
I have also received parcels envelopes from other sellers etc with stamps sticky tape.
Never had a problem or return

I asked our post office today and they looked through all their terms and conditions.
They spent a lot of time on it and found all the regulations as to where stamps are to be placed, where address should be etc.
But no where does it stipulate stamps cannot be taped on. In fact my post office and others encourage taping of stamps as well as taping stamps themselves if they may fall off or don't adhere properly and firmly believe that an item will not be returned on that basis.

This was the same kinda story we got from our local PO when we were having the trouble with stamps falling off (se above).

I lodge my mail over the counter at the post office.
Most of my parcels have labels but for any large letters, the post office use stamps. They have always put the stamps on, ink stamped them and then put sticky tape over the lot. Every single one.
Never been an issue.
