I have heard of others receiving the same or similar message - I don't remember exactly the purpose, but it's likely the message itself is incidental and it's a phishing scam, so delete without clicking on any links etc.

I'VE HAD SIMILAR, ITS BASICALLY A SPAM MAIL DIRECTING YOU TO AN EBAY ITEM. Don't open any links in it. Forward it to spam@ebay.com.au then delete it, or drop it in your spam mail folder to block future mail from that sender.
You can recognise most phishing mail when it is not in your ebay messages as well, and when they do not use your name; instead they will just address it as "Hi" or "Dear member".

and well done dredge for checking your ebay emails before doing anything about it. If you click on those rotten things...not good...the first one I ever received...wording and content was slightly different...but same same.
I cut and paste the item number given and did an ebay search on it. Nothing. Although, occasionally, the item number DOES actually exist...but that's a false trail laid on porpoise.....have a grand day...jilly
