Strange goings on with shipping address changes

Have had a buyer who won an item then 4 days later sent a long message about being unable to afford item and people using her phone and bidding without her permission  Etc Etc --my unpaid item assist kicked in after 5 days and opened UIC ---She then changes shipping address and pays --Ive shipped to previous address --Im preparing for item not recieved--As its a completly different address & postcode --Contacted Ebay & they made a note of what had happened & couldnt understand why she had done that in the middle of an UICase and advised me to contact Aus post to stop the shipment ??????What The??????

I use those emails as stock control. As I sell a lot of the same items, each time one is sold it lets me know how many are remaining. When it gets down to only a few left I put the item on my 'to order' list.

thank you clarry.  this nearly happened the other day.

dont buyers sometimes pay with there wifes or childrens paypal account.  and if so ,if the accounts are at a different address.

I just want to be prepaired as i am getting more deliveries now.

a buyer buys an item ,then messages me with the address she wants the paint to be delivered to, she pays with paypal. am i correct you are saying i send the paint to the paypal address. 

now she lives in the address she messaged me 100%.  she does not get the paint because i have sent it to the paypal address, 

she would then contact me and say joe i have not got the paint yet, and i check the tracking number and it has been delivered , or sent back as not at this address. and tell the buyer this, 

she says i messaged you with my address ,and yells at me and says cant yiu read english and gives me a red dot defects left right and centre and says i will never buy from you again you  chicken plucker. [by the way i had to mention the chicken] what happens next, how do i get my paint back ,what if its still at the front door of the paypal address.

Joe, instead of going off into flights of fancy, read what people are trying to tell you.

Do you ever buy something and pay with paypal?  Have you noticed that when you go through Checkout there is a Delivery Address which can be changed.

If you want the item sent to your registered paypal address then just leave it as it is.  If you want the item delivered to the next door neighbour then enter that address.   If you want it delivered to someone in another suburb you enter that address.

You then click on Pay and the seller will receive a notification from paypal that you have paid and you want the item sent to whatever address you have entered BEFORE you clicked on Pay.

The seller will never see your registered address and will only get the address you want the item sent to and to be eligible for paypal seller protection he must send to the address that the buyer has entered  before paying.

Sending to any address given to him in a message will void paypal seller protection.

Again I repeat.....never send an item to an address given to you in a message if you want paypal seller protection.

If you DON'T WANT paypal seller protection you can send the item to any address that the buyer asks you to....but be aware that the scammers know this trick too.

i know i can change it , read my post if a buyer messages me and tells me the address   , this has happened a couple of times ,but has a different address on there paypal account ,were do i send my parcel to ,,,   i am not the buyer but the seller.

lets say you lyndal are the seller  , when i buy from you  i send you a ebay message stating could you deliver to  234 gtry rd sunbury please.then i pay  but the paypal address  is 24  ghui rd blackburn , were do you send my parcel to.   simple question   has happened a couple of times to me prob lots of times to other sellers.  i want you to give me an address thanks

Joe, You have misunderstoood my post completely.

I was just trying to explain so that you would understand but have obviously not succeeded.

As the seller you must send to the address that is on the paypal notification if you want seller protection.

It does not matter what the buyer says in a message....you send to the paypal address only.

If you do get a message with a different address you should refund the money and ask the buyer to change the address before they repay or they risk not getting the parcel.

thank you    , on one ocasion i missed it but it was 122   versus 124     anyway the seller got the paint

on another ocasion  buyer messages me an address but diferent from paypal  so i message buyer and she said send to the address i messaged you with. so i did ,  by the way she got her parcel .   was i wrong sending the parcel to were she lives.   surely if there was a problem with the buyer i have 2 emails telling me were to send the parcel.     whats paypal seller protecting got to do with it , its between me the buyer and ebay in this case.

As Lyndal said earlier scammers are aware of the PayPal addressing rule. And they will use it to scam you out of a tin of paint.

So if they message you to change the address and you do, and its not the same as the PayPal address, you WILL lose any INR claim they raise. Any messages from the buyer don't even enter into it.

You can argue with PayPal all you want about what messages happened between you and the buyer they will still find against you because you sent to an incorrect address regardless if/not there is any evidence to the contrary.

So its up to you to choose if/not you forfeit your rights as a seller. These are the very clear rules under which we play.

For me I would cancel the transaction and ask them to buy again giving the correct address, having explained why you are doing that. If they refuse then send it to the PayPal adress anyway. After that if they leave you bad FB over it then you can probably use the messages to have the defects removed. But you will never be able to use the messages to defend an INR claim when you knowingly used the wrong shipping address.

Ok, lets say i buy some paint off you, i use paypal to pay you, you get my phisical address, now i message you with an address to post to, you post to the address i mesage you with, i go to paypal and open a case because i say i have not recived it, you give paypal details of postage, you lose because you did not post to the address that paypal gave you, now i have my money back as well as some paint, what will you do about it??

The ebay money back guarantee is only available to buyers who pay with paypal so it is the same as the paypal policy for seller protection.

You might win a case in court if you could prove that you posted to the address given to you by the buyer in a message but why would you want to spend big $$$ all because you refuse to follow the simple rules of the site you are selling on?
