Temporary restriction

Hi,

I recently had a listing removed from ebay for not following policy last month. I could not get an explanation off ebay to why this had happened, the item I was selling was a pair of sunglasses that I received many positive reviews about. I suspect that people selling the same pair of glasses so me as competition and decided to report me in order to remove my listing. In the end I decided to take my losses and to not risk re-listing the item. I already contacted ebay to show were I purchased them but they did not want to listen and said nothing can be done.

This morning another one of my items was removed for violating counterfeit policy. This is false; I have evidence and a receipt that the item was bought from the retailer. I also again have many positive reviews about the item and customers have even stated that this is an authentic product. The product comes with a serial code that you register online to determine it to be the real thing. I stated this in my description and said all devices come with authenticity cards. I obviously cannot post pictures of the serial numbers as other people can register them under their name ect. I posted this item with my own pictures and you can see it obviously is not a fake.

Anyway, I contacted ebay and it appears there is very little that can be done even with the evidence. Their explanation was that a number of these items had been reported to be fake. Because my item was high risk due to the recent number of reports, they removed my listing and decided to restrict my account for 3 days. I contacted ebay who then said I am aloud to relist the item if I show the authenticity. I am just very disappointed; the whole process contradicts itself. I just want to ask if anyone has had a similar experience with this? I am also curious to know how long these black marks remain against your account. This has happened twice, and I am worried it will happen a third time so more restrictions will be placed on my account ☹. I am an honest seller and do not understand why this is happening to me.

I'm afraid I don't have an answer for you, but I would query why you are paying eBay for a store when you only have a few items for sale.

Most sellers here would say a store only becomes viable when you have well over 100 items AND a good sell-through rate.

Some of the products you are selling are at extremely high risk of being counterfeited. The brand owners often keep a close eye on sites such as ebay in order to try to stop the sale of illegal copies. Yours may be the real deal, but if you are not an authorised agent / seller for those products you are just going to continue to have trouble.

A couple more close encounters with the ebay police and your account could be suspended for good, along with any other related accounts. Its just not worth the hassle. Better to find another product line that does not give the same agro..

Are you an authorised reseller of certain name brands ?

Yeah I am as I also sell that product on Amazon and have the permission from the brand name. I asked ebay if I could send the evidence of this to them but they said the decision was already made. Once th decision is made they don't change their mind even with the evidence infront of them 😞 I guess I will have to be mindful now and just sell products that are low risk

Thanks for the advice. I have a store as the ebay fees are less. When I calculated it I would save $50 a month by having a store even though that cost. I understand were your coming from though.

Yeah that makes alot of sense. I will have to be mindful of this. I am an authorized seller for one of the items that was removed. Unfortunately ebay did not want to accept the evidence as the decision was already made. I guess its a tough gig selling on here. I had a feeling that other sellers have been reporting me to reduce competition which sucks. I was really looking forward to setting up a store.

It might be worthwhile to get the company to inform eBay that you are an authorised reseller. Maybe get them to hint that they are unhappy about eBay restricting the availability of genuine items on the site.
