The Latest eBay Free Listings and Seller Promotions Thread.

Thought it would be good just to have a single thread devoted to seller promos and free listings.

Re: List as many items as you can, for FREE!

"I was 2 days away from opening a store". Me too. Now on hold for the time being.

Only just realised the offer runs until Sunday night - for some reason, I thought it ended Sat night and have been feverishly listing/relisting all day.

Am I correct in that this offer is essentially only for auctions?? As buy it now items are all gtc and switch at the start of each month.

Guessing a lot of sellers will be in for a shock when all the BINs they have just listed tick over tomorrow and they are charged fees!!!

Only free listing too. No low fvf.

auctions or bin - finishes at midnight. yes you still pay fvf but free listings are still a gift.  and I doubt gtc listings over the weekend will be charged as of tommorrow would take a months cycle.

The monthly cycle is end/start of the month regardless when listed now?

If so I don't see why that wouldn't happen, but it will be interesting to see if anyone posts here which way it went.

Recently many sellers are only discovering the changes to gtc when they see their higher than expected fees due, so it's worth keeping an eye on what happens with this one.

Re: List as many items as you can, for FREE!

The listings run for a calendar month. Any charges will only occur if they rollover. ie 30 July for stuff listed today. So, any that don't sell will need to be ended before they rollover, unless another promo comes along. In which case they will need to be ended and relisted to take advantage.

It is no different to the way it's been for the last 4 months, since they introduced GTC. Any listings using the mega weekend promos, didn't incur fees at the start of the month. Nor did the exact same promo we got at the end of May.

From July, gtc listings are supposed to roll over on the same day of every month (the same day as they were listed), ie. 5th of every month if they were listed on the 5th of a previous month. If they were listed on the 31st and a subsequent month only has 30 days they'll roll over on the 30th that month and then revert to the 31st for subsequent months that have 31 days.

This is the theory. Whether it works the way it's intended to remains to be seen. I have something that was listed on 2 May and iit rolled over a few minutes ago but shows as having 30 days left (a few minutes less), which means it'll roll over again on the 31st.  The new system was supposed to prevent things rolling over twice in the same month.

Maybe they're running on US time and they haven't started implementing the changes yet.

Unlimited listings this weekend without insertions fees (but with normal fvf's)

I signed up for it, as I have about 400 combined relists and new unlisted items - but I was  2 days away from opening a store. I'm tempted to wait and see if they make this regular for a while, but compared with a store it's not as compelling as the old $1 fvf's, and with a store I can at least list any time I feel like it, so I think I'll still go ahead as planned. I'll mull it over the weekend.

Someone will probably start a whole thread for this, but anyway...

At the moment my hunch is they might do this the last weekend of every month - but if they do it again next weekend, I might stick with it for the time being.

In the categories I list in, I'd have to gross $3,000 a month to make back the store cost with the roughly 1% reduced fvf's.. Which I have done, but rarely.

If it's not repeated next weekend, I'll go with the store.

I have little impression of how widely offered this was.

Of the listings I've had going through so far, one (which I listed from scratch) is showing 31 days, the rest 33 days.

I'm not a particular fan of 33 days - one calendar month is far easier to plan with.

Re: List as many items as you can, for FREE!

The 33 day listings will most likely revert to 31 days next month as the extra days would be an initial adjustment. All mine for the last couple of days (and today) are on 30 days still.

I did a new listing this morning and it too was only on 30 days, to relist on the 31st.  Smiley Sad
