Thought it would be good just to have a single thread devoted to seller promos and free listings.

Do you have a Store or is your Ebay just a 'normal account'?

I had an interesting conversation with a Supervisor on Ebay this morning in regards to who gets special deals and Promotions.

The Supervisor said that it is to help those who are not 'Top Rated Sellers' to up their Status on Ebay, as they apparently cant compete with those who are Top Rated Sellers - like myself. Apparently Top Rated Sellers have more 'visability' on Ebay than other sellers.  That's what I was told from this Supervisor... He also said that it had to do with how long the account has been active, what they sell, their performance metrics as to WHO would receive the special deals / promotions or not.

I had spoken about wanting to cancel my store, as I didnt feel like I was getting very much for what I had been paying for... The supervisor rattled off the supposed 'benefits' and said that with the Upcoming Christmas Period that there would be MORE promos given to sellers...

So lets just see if we end up with anything good soon or not...

I don't believe what you were told (so what else is new when talking to the customer service reps?). I have two IDs, neither of them stores, but on both I am a 'power seller' /  'Top Rated Seller'. I have had one ID for 12 years, the other for 6 years, and I sell a wide range of household and clothing items on both IDs. I always can access the promotions advertised on this thread.

As for the benefits of having a store? It depends on how much you have listed (usually recommended to be 100+) with a decent sell-through rate. I sell about 20 items per month per ID and have over 400 items listed on each ID and still wouldn't consider a store to be of value to me. Perhaps if my average sale price was higher? But currently it is around $10-$12 per item (after FVFs and postage), so a good month will show a profit of $200. A store fee would eat up a good chunk, and for what advantage? Since I get access to the promotions, I never even reach my limits, as I don't buy to sell, just sell what I - and my family - already have.

This account rarely gets the weekend promos, but as I list 6 items per month it's not really relevant. But it tends to show that eBay aren't necessarily interested in encouraging ultra-low volume accounts to list more.

My non-store selling account is Top Rated and almost always gets them. It is nearly 6 years old.

My store account is also Top Rated, but stores rarely get promos. Although there have been one a month for 3 days each recently. They usually only offer free listings, rather than no/reduced FVFs.

I get the extra promos on both my non-store accounts.  I haven't listed on one for several months and you could probably call me an ultra low volume seller on the other one.  I know others who get them on one ID but not on a second one, and I don't think there's a lot of rhyme or reason to it (as with much on ebay).

HI,

I was only repeating what had been said to me yesterday by the Customer Service Rep.

Its becoming more evident that each time you call or chat to a Customer Service Rep, you are always going to get a different answer to questions from each Representative. They dont ever tell you the same thing, and alot of it is always contradictory!

In regards to me asking whether a store was 'beneficial' for me considering the fees, of course the Customer Rep is going to give me the bull **bleep** spiel of no insertion fees, reduced FVF etc.. And of course he said that the Promo Deals (in his opinion) weren't offered to everyone without a store etc..

The BEST thing he said he could give me right now, was 2 Months FREE store Subscription. And I know that was only given to me to 'keep' me there as a 'Store Subscriber'. When that 2 Months is over, I am going to cancel the store subscription and see what difference it makes.

I have over 130+ items currently listed, and generally sell 1 - 3 items a day, at present.. So I will see how it goes... Ive been checking my 'Promotion Offers' and nothing has come up new..

Yes - and that's another thing that gets me cranky! We have a Store that we are paying monthly suscription fees to, and the best we seem to get is 0 listing fees.. Well that's of NO USE to us, because we already get 'Free Listing' in with our Subscriptions..! How stupid is that?? Like HOW is that supposed to be helping / encouraging us?

It allows you to list more.

I have 2300 items listed, so free listings in excess of the standard 600 help me manage my items better.

Horses for courses.

Here's one for stores:  unlimited freebies with no selling fees until 10th December.  It only started a few minutes ago.

https://sellercentre.ebay.com.au/promo/7178

Single quantity listings.

Non-stores may also get it but I haven't checked my other account yet.  I haven't got an email yet either but it's showing in my promotions section for the store.

Usual response for this account.  Unfortunately, this promotional offer is by invitation only.
