The NEW ebay health check.

So I just received the email for this month's health check and it says in there, in regards to GTC listings and renewal fees:

"If you are a non-business registered seller, don’t use the Seller Hub, and most of your listings are single-quantity, we’d recommend you use our our ’Quick listing tool’ to avoid renewal fees. To do so, select “Switch to the quick listing tool” in the Advanced listing tool."

So question, how do I change to the Quick Listing Tool because I can't see it anywhere, and how will it save me on renewal fees?

Yes, that's right. I contacted them using another ebay account that doesn't have a store. I managed to remove seller hub on that one and access the Quick Listing tool. I'll be posting the test listings on that acccount.

I looked at the quick listing tool several years ago and there was nothing quick about it. A friend of mine said the same thing. It took her ages to change the postage from their default, which would explain why so many occasional sellers charge satchel postage on items that could be sent as letters.

There don't seem to be a lot of benefits left for stores, apart from being able to list multiple items. If most of my items weren't multiples I would have ditched the store ages ago.

It'll be interesting to see whether non-stores can list a new 40 each month and have them run indefinitely, as well as any extras they get with promotions.

It looks like the ebay info page has been updated to reflect the information I received in the email and via live chat.

https://www.ebay.com.au/help/selling/listings/creating-managing-listings/relisting-items?id=4147

Fixed price listings

Fixed price listings are set to Good 'Til Cancelled duration by default. This means your item will be listed on eBay until it sells or you end it.
An insertion fee applies (or it counts as a free listing):

  • For the original listing
  • Once every 30 days, if you have an eBay Store or you listed the item using the advanced listing form.

So if you don't have a store and don't use the advanced listing form (use the quick tool) the renewal fee does not apply. This is in line with what I was told on the live chat help. I'm about to list some new items on my non store account to try it out.

The NEW ebay health check.

I just listed a handful of items on my non store account without Seller Hub and using the Quick Listing Tool, which with the proposed changes should result in no fee and no deduction from free listing allocation in 30 days when they renew on the 3rd May. I will check back and see what happens then.

The Quick Listing tool was ok to use, no slower than the Advanced Listing tool although I did find a few issues:

1) Without Seller Hub you can't have Custom Label (SKU) which I usually use to locate my items in my storage area. I can simply note that info on my spreadsheet instead so this is not a huge deal just a change.

2) Maximum handling time allowed is 3 days, the Advanced Listing Tool allows longer than that.

3) It auto fills in item specifics based on the title you input. These were wrong a handful of times so I had to remove them. Easy to do but probably easy to get caught out there if you don't check it.

4) Accept offers is turned on by default and hidden behind a 'more options' link. If you don't want offers you have to remember to click and turn it off each time.

5) There are 2 prompts at the end of every listing, to enable Easy Pricing and another for Promoted Listing, they are annoying as they pop up every time and you have to say no to each one. On the Advanced Listing Tool they appear at the end of the page and are easily skimmed past, on this tool they are a new window after you submit the listing.

I do like the drag and drop photo input feature.

So we will see if these listings take some of my freebies or not come the start of May.

Huh, and now my previously missing post with Chat Transcript is visible again. Weird stuff.

It is not weird.....someone must have reported it as not allowed to be posted.

The Mods remove anything that is reported but will put it back if it proves to have been reported in error.

I think what saved your post was the fact that you removed anything that could identify you or the CS person.

Ah thanks, weird someone would report it anyway. I'm just trying to help everyone out here. Ebay is not very clear on these things so anything we can work out together helps! Yeah I removed the ebay guys name as it didn't feel right posting it without their permission even though it's just a first name.

But at one point you did forget to remove Joel's name. I'm sure it was just an oversight in your editing.

I am not sure it is the name in particular.

The rule is that you are not supposed to post any private communication between you and a third party.....and that includes ebay messages and copies of any communications with ebay or other members.
