The lies eBay feed us......

In regards to postage cancellation, it peeves me off that eBay feed bs and lies.

EVERY time I have had to cancel a postage label, I patiently wait their so called 25 days and every time I have to follow up as to why the credit has not been processed (probably because they think it will be forgotten about, SCORE more money for eBay). Well this last time I got sick of waiting and having to follow up yet again only to be told "they need to confirm with Australia Post that the postage label has not been used" So, I wrote to Australia Post.

This is the response! From Australia Post!!

"Thanks for your reply.

The internal eBay postage service is actually a contracted service that eBay runs independently of us. Although we certainly supply postage products and freight the items, any support of technical enquires are managed by eBay themselves.

This means that we don't actually have any information about how eBay sets their processes or are able to confirm what standards that they have in place.

As such, we wouldn't be able to comment on any forms of cancellation or claim times that eBay charters from.

If you have any further questions about this or any other technical matter with this service, I would recommend that you contact eBay customer service.

I hope that this information has helped and that you enjoy the rest of your day. If there is anything else that we can do for you, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Regards,
Huon Potter

We don't use ebay labels for this very reason. Its not the first time I've seen similar posts to this one.

We use Clcik and Send instead. But our parcel rate is quite low. Maybe about 150 per year.

Yes we pay an additional 10% for postage this way but its worth it for the lack of problems and headaches.

You're so right Clarry. I used to use C&S and switched to eBay, but will be going back to C&S. Just not worth the messing around with eBay.

The trouble with liars and fraudsters, is that their arrogance helps them to maintain the illusion that we are ALL more stupid than they are and can't see through their shifty practices and deceptions.

They think they can get away with it, because at base, despite all their pretty words to sellers, they think we are all numpties.

Actually having said all that, I'm going to have to revise my view just a bit -

They probably know just how much we see and understand of their REAL attitudes and practices, but because their track record shows that they can get away with it, with impunity, they don't care what we know and what we think about it !!!

So, I guess we ARE all numpties for continuing to deal with them !!!!

i can understand both eBay's and AP's positions.

eBay certainly need to ensure the label hasn't been used before they issue a refund. AP is the entity that can verify this.

AP don't run the eBay label system (except as a subset of C&S) so they are certainly not going to chase them up. Except to verify to eBay, when eBay request it, that the label hasn't been used.

I really don't understand the question (?) or problem.

I use eBay for all my eBay parcels. It's cheaper, I have had no problems and, most importantly, I don't generate labels until I've been paid for the item and the postage. At which time it is the problem of the buyer if a cancellation needs to be done.

This would be my experience and practice as well.  Plus I would rarely generate a label more than a few hours before the item is taken to the post office so not much chance for a buyer to request a cancellation.

Have only ever had to cancel one label which was because of my error in generating it and I received the credit back promptly.

I too have experienced no problems, have only had to cancel a handful of labels (got carried away and printed 3kg instead of 500g) and have received the refund within 3 weeks which I think is perfectly reasonable as it can take at least theat long for an item to be delivered.
