Another buyer today who decided that the item won't fit their camera & would like to cancel the transaction.
I have no problem in refunding but it is bulls##t that I cop a defect for it.
Just like the other 6 that asked to cancel since April.
If I buy something from K-Mart then change my mind is it really K-Marts fault - and should they be punished for it?
Also I wonder if they will let me stick a big red negative dot on their front window?

I was confused about this too, and the information available was quite hard to follow.
I sent a careful message and received this back on the 8th of August.....
Thanks for writing about defects on cancelled transactions. I understand the confusion.
Margaret, first, please know that transactions prior to May 1, 2014 will not count against your defect.
It may be reflected in your dashboard but it will not count when evaluating your performance.
Not all cancelled transactions will count against you especially if it's not your fault or it's the buyer requesting for the cancellation. Unfortunately at the moment, it's only sellers who can initiate cancellation of the sale.
The following reasons for a cancelled transaction won't count against your seller performance:
โฆBuyer purchased item by mistake or changed mind
โฆBuyer is returning item for refund โฆYou and buyer disagreed over terms
โฆBuyer is unresponsive
โฆBuyer's payment hasn't been received or hasn't cleared
โฆBuyer requested shipment to an unconfirmed address
โฆeBay notified you to cancel
โฆGlobal Shipping Program order
Let us know if you have questions.

Even worse, last week I was looking at an item & saw the seller had two negs, neither of which were deserved. One had the comment "Don't want this now, don't post it". The other was "Arrived too late". That last one was left last Monday so I checked the item & saw the buyer had only won it the previous Thursday. Come on, you win something on a Thursday & get it by the following Monday & that's too long! Get real! And even if they do a FB revision, the poor seller still has the defects.
I'm seeing more & more of these ridiculous feedbacks that are punishing sellers when they have done nothing wrong.

I,m not too worried about ebays shiny stars, but must admit I do like having the top rated seller badge on my accounts as I suspect it gives buyers a bit more confidence in purchasing from me ( especially overseas customers ) the problem with international sales is you do get a slightly higher rate of lost items, and items taking too long to arrive. I have just accepted that at some point my shiny badges may disappear. Its all part of the "fun" of selling on ebay I,m afraid.

yes I won't have a shiny badge either, items will be put to the bottom, as I am not doing any of the things that ebay want me to.
also these strikes are also going against the buyer, I had blocked buyers with 2 strikes. customer emailed said they wanted to swap an order from another seller, that seller then gave her a non payer strike, although she said had paid. Had no trouble with her purchase from me.
another customer got strikes, because the seller wouldn't send to a post office box. So off went that block, will take my chance with non payers. Wasn't this ID.
