I sent a wii U by regular post, boxed, and with tracking to another suburb of Melbourne.
I followed the Trackng and it was delivered 2 days after I lodged it with the post office.
The weekend passed, and for all I thought the buyer was spending the weekend playing the games and console, as I was waiting to see if they were going to give me feedback.
After the weekend pased the buyer contacted me and said that the parcel did, not arrive, even though the tracking reads it was delivered, and they proceeded to open up an invesitgation through Aus Post.
The thing that worries me is, I have only have ever had issues with those in WA for items "delivered" and "Not received", and I do gage that many Aussies in the bulk are integrity based people, and honest.
Is this buyer taking advantage of the fact I did not register the parcel?
How do I know if they have received it, or whether Aus Post is responsible for a C*** up?
Lesson learned...Register everything. it was only travelling 30km away from me, in the same city.
Left an even more taste in my mouth than I had before... Seller protection is a myth.
So let me get this right. The payment I got for the Wii U is frozen, the Wii U (? Who knows where it is, or who has it) and I will have to pay the fees on the auction...
I think this really is the last straw for me. Just selling stuff now, to get my paypal balance back in the positive, and then I think i am done with this site, once and for all...
If anyone has been in asimilar situation or has advice so I can go about not being completely stuffed over would be appreciated.
Thanks ๐

Funny you shld say that. I was wondering if people could sent things to friends in the same suburb? Or something sinister like that? In instances where all you need is a tracking number? Surely the tracking numbers are scanned and more finite information (time stamps of deliveries) give an insight to the validity of tracking details? I thought tracking was more sophisticated than that? If tracking is useless? Is this what your essentially saying?
If that is the case, then these AP parcel upgrades to include tracking is just another frill to make their services seem more secure than they are?
Just another way to stooged us to pay more? I really do want to give AP a piece of my mind right now, but I know it would completely destroy any chance I have of getting them to actually do anything.... Every complaint leter I sent them in years previous has been a waste of energy....
Maybe the best way is for the buyer to raise the issue directly, as I know it has worked before. I have always gotten nowhere quick, being proactive in the past. I just end up flying off with my temper.....

Yes that's correct you need to keep the receipt with the tracking number as proof.

You don't have to do anything.
ebay suggest we send item with tracking. If you have sent it with tracking and can provide the tracking number, that's all
you need to do.
Once the item has left your place, it's actually out of your hands.
Paypal always take a little time to investigate whilst funds are on hold, and it's only because they have a lot to process.
But it will be ruled in your favour and your funds will be released.
The buyer needs to check things at their end, their mail box is secure, they were available to recieve it and if
not was it placed on a porch, and is the porch secure etc. You are not responsible for what happens at their end.
If they buyer wanted to sign for a parcel because at their end it's too open, or they are in a unit, then they have
to ask for that.
Rest easy, and I am sure they will rule in your favour. This has happend to me before and it took 7 days for paypal
to process it.

You need to also keep in mind that the buyer might be pulling a swifty on you, what I mean is that because parcels that are sent with only tracking are then only scanned by the delivery person and then placed into the mailbox or whereever so either the parcel was delivered and the buyer is lying or someone came past the buyers mailbox or if it was placed at their door and stole it,these would be the only 2 scenarios IMO????

Yes could be stolen parcel from mail box or left at front door
Or the item was misdelivered by Aust Post.
Or the item has been incorrectly scanned as delivered, and it is still in transit somewhere (happened to me twice)
Or the delivery person is up to no good ..- not unheard of ....

Or the buyer could be scamming ....
The best way to give yourself seller protection is to send by an appropriate method of post that will provide paypal or eBay with confirmation of addressee details (such as click and send or eBay labels) and lodge over the counter so tracking shows it is in the mail system - where goods are higher value IMO essential to add insurance and/or signature on delivery.

Thanks so very much for yout time and research to help me guys. ๐
I am just going to wait and roll with whatever punches may come.
It is hard to know whether to feel sorry or not for the buyer if you lose on the paypal case though....
They played the "It is for my kids for Christmas" Card.
I don't know if they were trying to manipulate me into refunding straight away? Or if genuine.
It is a **bleep** position to have to be in....
Register labels for $3.00. Gotta get me some of those...clearly....
Thanks again

The enquiry with Aust Post was lodged on 10 November (shows on tracking info), how long do they take to complete an enquiry for a missing parcel?.... you think AP could find something out or deny responsibility in 18 days.

There is no registration for parcels any more.
You need to read up on new postal rules and what is acceptable for seller protection through paypal.....there is no point is just "rolling with the punches" if you are going to lose $300
