I downloaded and used Turbo Lister 2 for the first time today. I had not used this program in about 15 years (seriously) and I remember all the clunky and time-wasting behaviours it had.
I decided to give it a try today, expecting eBay had really caught up with the times and produced something so intuitive, so fast and handy that it would speed things up a lot and be so easy to use, and replace the browser-dependent and buggy web interface for me.
What a huge disappointment it turned out to be! I couldn't believe it. The interface was straight out of the old Windows XP version. Sure, a few things have been moved around and some new features added, but the way it works in general with the keyboard and editing is so dated and awful.
I am constantly having to click here and there just to get it to do what I want. Things don't just work smartly like other programs have for a long time. And when you open things there's always a bit of a delay of a second or two...... even on an SSD drive.
And for some reason I couldn't add any postage options for France and the UK. I had to go searching third party/external forums for a vague mention of needing to select an option in the Tools menu to "install the complete version" of the package. This then took a further 10 minutes of downloading and auto-installing on an ADSL2 connection. It even seemed like being on dial-up again!
We need an all-new Turbo Lister 3 very badly.

Sorry but I couldn't disagree more. TL works just fine, the only complaint I have is you cannot select the option for the free relists.
When they bring out a new version of TL it takes months before they iron out all the problems.
After downloading the basic program the first thing you should do is a full version update, hardly a surprise. I have no idea about international postage as I only sell to Australia but if you cannot specify countries and rates I would just do as I do with the relist feature, I schedule all items and give myself time to go in and revise the listings before they go live.

I don't list from Turbo Lister just use it as a Plan C back up of my listings.
Have to say the olden days interface gives me a giggle everytime I do a back up - it is sooooo far behind the times in sooo many ways.

Gave up on Turbolister after 5 years when it crashed and would not open the saved backup file on my PC. I lost 5 years of listing information. But I have 10 years of listings and pictures on Auctiva which is a great program - absolutely worth the $10 per month for my kind of business.

If you back up regularly and that happens then you can repopulate using the backup file before the last one as there is usually a corrupt file in the latest backup, avoiding it usually works and if you have only done a few listings since the last backup yopu only lose those.

I have been using Turbo Lister since about 2000 and never had any major problems. I now have 3 different accounts and it is just a matter of opening which account I want to use. I have well over 1000 Items stored on all 3 accounts and I find it great as they are all Templates so it is just a matter of editing whats there as to what I want to Sell. I find it great to use even though it takes about 45 seconds to load but it does what I want and thats what matters. There are a few things that could do with updating such as. When you have free listings it tells you the fees you will be charged but once you have uploaded them it tells you that you have saved $xxx. over all for a free tool I love it.

Hi
Do any of the forum regulars/TL users know how I may be able to get around my current TL problems?
(I have TL2, regularly back up database, download program updates etc)
1) Description info not saving when I click save (talk about frustrating when you have just typed up a
lengthy description and it just disappears - now I draft in notepad first just in case)
2) self hosting photos - I can get as far as typing the links in but then direct linking denied?
3) I can not 'minimise' pages in TL, I have to cancel out of pages, making it rather cumbersome if I need to
copy and paste info from another file
I am not thrilled about having to do my listings manually through the ebay sell/create pages - I could not
find an option there for self hosting photos. I'd prefer to do that than upload it all to ebay.
Thanks in advance.
ps ebay live help implied that my only option re a couple of the issues was to uninstall and install the program again.
I'd really rather not, don't want to risk messing up or losing my stored info regardless of back ups

Have you done a Full Version Update,(that fixes problems at times).
Uninstal and re-install is sometimes the best option as it gets a fresh install and then do the Full Version Update.
I've had "glitches' where things just wouldn't work and just got a "new" version and uploaded the backup,(I've
had no problems doing so),
