Unclear postage charge for item sold

I recently sold an item where the buyer paid for postage. Summary of the transaction:

- Buyer paid (total): $45.34

- Postage included in total: $10.34

- eBay fees deducted (from the total): $6.37

- Payout received: $38.97

I’ve now received an email stating that $10.34 (postage) will be deducted from my bank account. Isn't postage transaction fee already deducted from the total?

I am curious why I am being charged the full $10.34?

You've received payment for postage from the buyer... now you have to pay for the postage. You don't get to keep the postage payment. That's not how it works. You do understand that postage isn't free, right?

Your own figures show that only $6.37 in fees, was deducted from your total sale.

How you post is up to you, ebay labels, AP etc.   If you choose to use ebay labels then

you receive a separate postage charge via ebay.

Postage transaction fee is included, but not the postage. As said, you obviously used an eBay label, which needs to be paid for.

If you had gone to the carrier yourself, eBay wouldn't have charged you the $10.34. But you would have had to pay the carrier.

I'd say that yes, the postage transaction fee was included in that $6.37 fee that ebay deducted.

The fee was calculated on the total cost $45.34.

The $10.34 though does not include an ebay fee, it is what was charged for postage alone.

I'm getting the feeling that you believe the calculated postage included extra to cover the ebay postage fee component but obviously it doesn't.
