I'm so sick of buyers "buying" things from my store and not paying. They don't message, don't respond, and they ignore opened unpaid item cases.
Currently, an item can be left unpaid for 4 days, then a case is opened... then another 4 days needs to go by before the case is closed. If I only have 1 of these items and they are in demand, I am delayed from selling it for an entire 8 days, I might lose watchers and interst in these 8 days and and ebay holds the fees they charge me for 8 days. it is so unfair!
In 95% of these incidents, the buyer ignores anything that comes their way. What do they care about unpaid item strikes? they might dont even know what it means. overall they just don't care! But for us sellers, its 8 days of stagnation and loss money!!
It should be reduced to 2 days until case is opened.. and 2 days to close a case.
sorry about my rant. First time poster out of sheer frustration. Wonder if anyone feels my pain?

In the US it is 2days but they can only use electronic payment sites like PayPal. As a lot of Aus buyers still use bank deposit it would be counter productive to open disputes on them. If it bothers you so much sell your items BIN with immediate payment required

I've had an increase in these problems lately and it is quite frustrating.
And yes, the buyers simply ignore you when you first try to contact them and then continue to ignore you when you open a case after they don't respond. It's a big waste of time for sellers and is becoming more frequent. So many people are getting into buying online now and they need to realise there are real people at the other end trying to deal with their behaviour.
Unfortunately I have to allow for flexibility on payment due to bundling, obscure overseas postage requests and customising so I can't make everyone just pay immediately.

i saw an option somewhere to click, that allows the item to be still listed and available for anyone to buy until its actually PAID for.
maybe its this one HERE...?
To add an immediate payment requirement to your listing:
Create a fixed-price listing or an auction-style listing with a Buy It Now option.
In the Decide how you'd like to be paid section of the listing form, select the option to Require immediate payment when buyer uses Buy It Now.
Complete your listing.
if you have an auction with buy it now and immediate payment available, they latter two will disappear when a bid is made.
Also make it clear in your listing that IMMEDIATE payment is required. Might not stop all of them, but surely some.

The ones that puzzle me are buyers with high and excellent Feedback and who don't respond to reminders. I'm currently monitoring one and see no activity for some days. Could it be an accident, illness, family emergency? Will give it two more days before beginning the Unpaid Item ritual.

yeah, lately I had a lot of these buyers, I Sent invoice, then reminder message, No response ..... the worst one was last week, I wait for 10 days!! then after the unpaid item case opened, I got the message saying "" hey, i dont this anymore, i want to cancel""" What a wonderful message lol
Last night I have changed more than half of my listing to required immediate payment and I think I will just do it to all of my listing soon..... its kind of annoying......

This is a recent one (new buyer, 1 fb):
I'm sorry but I did not agree to purchase this item, I looked at it, but did not press buy button.
Who did press that buy button? (Buy-it-now):womanvery-happy:
At least they responded on day 1 or 2.

I don't so much mind the 4 day wait to open the case, it's the 4 day wait to close the case that kills me. I just spend 4 days chanting:
Please don't pay!
Please don't pay!
Please don't pay!
Please don't pay!
Please don't pay!
Please don't pay!
Please don't pay!
etc.
Because if they do, I can virtually guarantee the transactions going to turn into a complete screaming nightmare*.
