Urgent help needed, best offer from overseas

Hi guys, I have received an overseas offer for an item for a pair of boots.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ALTAMA-Combat-Boots-SIZE-12R-WITH-QUICK-RELEASE-BOOTLACE-/161675575466?

The $49 postage was quoted by my local postal office, for shipping within Australia only.

Someone has made an offer from Papua New Guinea, which is $2 higher than the listed price. When I tried to accept the offer the postage part said "Postage and Handling: To Papua New Guinea -- Not specified "

So my question is, if I accept the offer, does the buyer pay $49 postage, or nothing?

(Due to the person being in a capital city posting to PNG is actually cheaper than posting to remote towns in Australia)

Urgent help needed, best offer from overseas

Your item is only listed to sell within Australia. The buyer was probably able to make an offer as while you haven't offered the option of international postage, you probably haven't blocked overseas addresses.

Do you want to sell it overseas? If yes, then you need to work out the postage, which includes TRACKING.....which bumps the cost up a fair bit than standard airmail. Sending somewhere like PNG, I wouldn't post without tracking and I would also probably send with signature on delivery.

Once you've worked out postage, send the buyer a a quote. Make sure you take into account that eBay charges a fee on postage. PayPal fees will also be higher than normal as they charge a higher rate for overseas deliveries.

Would not accept the offer.

No one offers more than an asking price unless it is a scam

Double-check, also, that the buyer hasn't sent a message along with the offer that presumes postage is included in their offer amount (which might be the reason the amount is higher than the BIN price).

IMHO, I think the best thing to do, if you are considering accepting this offer, is to get the P&H quote first, as you may find the buyer is no longer interested once postage has been added, which means it could save you the headache of a cancellation or unpaid item.

Thanks, the buyer does look kinda sus, I think I will pass rather than gambling on the postage, plenty of chance to sell it locally. Man Happy

Outrageous post cost you have been quoted for domestic post and that you have listed.

Buy or send using a 5kg satchel (Large satchel $17.10) and even adding sig on delivery ($2.95) plus extra cover for $100 ($1.50) the cost is well under $25.

5kg satchel holds up to 5kg and measures 510 x 435mm  ample for the goods listed - and potentially even a couple of pairs depending on weight if carefully packed.

In relation to the buyer from overseas you need to check the best offer conditions - the standard eBay guff says that offer does not include post cost - what (if any) conditions has the buyer specified ??

I lived in PNG for a while and got back to Australia last year.

Id never, ever send ANY parcel there unless it was by courier (like DHL), door to door.

If you dont have it blocked already, you really need to. If there are people there who want to purchase your item, they will contact you directly and request a courier quote. This is how PNG works.
