Would i have any problems using some unused 500g prepaid satchels that I bought in a pack from around two years ago?  Anyone know if this would be too old for them to accept?

Sorry Alice very little credibility with people here who have had to suffer the poor, slow and expensive service provided by AP

AND then to suggest we just throw away satchels that cost $6.00 each!!!

Re: Using old unused Prepaid Auspost satchel

Alice you used the word "official"...............13.4 looks official ๐Ÿ˜ ...it comes from APs terms and conditions....... big words I know... would you like me to maqke them easier to understand ?????

BTW it refutes your claims ..... (given already that it would be against consumer laws to sell/advertise an item as a prepaid postal article that carries a maxixmum weight and then try and charge more when it was used unless it exceeded that maximum weight!!!)

It tells me that an item that was purchased as a prepaid article is "deemed" to be the amount that would have been payable if it had not been impressed with a postage prepaid imprint..................

simply put "postage paid" means postage paid regardless of original purchase price ie.  a 3kg prepaid bag that was bought before a price rise will still carry 3 kgs after the price rise. The $ amount that is attached to the 3 kg bag is superflous. The important bit as stated in the terms and conditions is the AP customer has prepaid for 3 kgs of freight to be dleivered anywhere in Australia

REGARDLESS OF WHAT IT COSTS AP TO DELIVER AND REGARDLESS OF WHAT THEY RAISE THE PRICE OF 3 KG BAGS TOO.

13.4 For the purpose of theseTerms and Conditions, the amount paid as postage on an Australia Post prepaid product shall be deemed to be the amount that would have been payable on the article if it had not been impressed with a postage prepaid imprint.

For the purposes of this clause, "Australia Post prepaid product" shall mean those products which are printed or impressed with an imprint to the effect "Postage Prepaid".

So Alice if you could link me to your official information in APs terms and conditions..that would be great..............

However I will not hold my breath

............ re the fertilizer..... if you treat people like  mushrooms.... what else do you expect???

I think 9just quietly) you are getting your clauses a little mixed up... the one below allows Australia Post to charge extra on prepaid items that do not comply with the conditions of carriage ie. they are overweight for the preaid weight designated or the prepaid item is attached to an item with bigger dimensions than the bag but weighs under the target weight

13.5  Postage prepaid articles which do not comply with the conditions for carriage shall be carried at a...postage applicable to the article at the time of lodgment. In assessing the applicable rate of posta...postage stamps.

Re: Using old unused Prepaid Auspost satchel

Hi all,

I'm sorry if I have upset anyone with my previous post, I was simply advising the OP of the official stance AP has to pre-paid products, and my comment about throwing old satchels away was my personal opinion, so I would appreciate it if the personal insults were not continued.

In relation to the comments surrounding the grace period given to prepaid products this is correct and as the OP did not confirm exactly how old the satchels are there is no way of knowing whether their satchels would still fall under a grace period or not.

As the change to the Parcel Post Service (from the red/white untraceable satchels to the new blue/red Parcel Post Plus satchels) only occurred about 4 months ago I am not surprised that the old satchels are still in circulation as the last of the old stock is sold out.

If the satchels in question were part of that product batch at that old price of $6.60 then I would think it would be unlikely that an underpaid mail notice would be applied if it was caught, however these satchels may be several years old, in which case several price rises might have occurred since they were purchased and the risk of being charged as underpaid increases if the satchel is caught.

Alice

๐Ÿ˜ which makes it a little IMPOSSIBLE to have a postage underpaid prepaid article..........................

I am sure that everyone that posted on this thread has forgotton the worry about it for quite some time seeing as viewmont's post was posted over 14 months ago.  But thanks for letting us know that you used a satchel that was bought some 4 years before viewmont's post.

Re: Using old unused Prepaid Auspost satchel

I still have a couple of the old pre paid satchels that I bought a couple of years ago . Used one only about a month ago and parcel went over the counter with nothing said by AP staff. So you should have no problem using them

Hello Alice, we have spoke on occasions, so what your saying is you don't know, so why add anything to this thread?

You told me that you worked for Aus Post, yet as usual you can not or will not answer a straight simple question.Smiley Sad

Re: Using old unused Prepaid Auspost satchel

I still have a number of express satchells I bought in bulk a few years ago. I checked with AP before using some of them recently. They're fine to use, the only thing is that the tracking numbers attached to them are now obsolete & so won't work. You can ask AP to replace the tracking numbers though (I'm not sure if they charge anything for this or not), or if (like myself) you send them 'with signature on delivery' you don't need to worry about it as the tracking number that comes with sig on del supercedes the satchels own tracking anyway.
