Would i have any problems using some unused 500g prepaid satchels that I bought in a pack from around two years ago? Anyone know if this would be too old for them to accept?

But with the red satchells - they are a specific pre-paid service, Would have thought they would have an indefinite lifespan even though those satchells are no longer available - OR - Australia Post should be prepared to buy them back. Haven't seen a notice for either yet.
I was in the Aust Post shop in Mildura just this morning and they had plenty of the red/white ones available for sale right beside the 'parcel post plus' red/white/blue ones (in 500g and 3kg sizes)

Alice's postage time star appears stuck at 4.6 and comms are at 4.8
A sad indictment considering her boss owns the freight company and therefore governs freight delivery times
Crikey those that have delivery stars of 4.6 or better must know a thing or two eh.. Alice???
Alice you are definitely better off continuing to follow AP's corporate ethos ie....
Concentrate on increasing your monopoly while decreasing company service costs but all the while allaying responsibilty.
Add to that a pinch of "disengaged employee syndrome" and a smattering of nonchalance and, it appears, the AP ebay recipe is complete...

My post office would actually tell me when price rises were coming so that I can 'stock up' on satches, and I have been known to buy 500 before a price rise.
As far as I am concered they are paid for and you can use them for as long as you have them. There is no expiry date on them.

For Alice to tell people to bin them is about as intelligent as telling people who bought eg 50c stamps last year to bin them because 50c doesn't buy as much anymore-geez.

Hi all,
I'm sorry if I have upset anyone with my previous post, I was simply advising the OP of the official stance AP has to pre-paid products, and my comment about throwing old satchels away was my personal opinion, so I would appreciate it if the personal insults were not continued.
In relation to the comments surrounding the grace period given to prepaid products this is correct and as the OP did not confirm exactly how old the satchels are there is no way of knowing whether their satchels would still fall under a grace period or not.
As the change to the Parcel Post Service (from the red/white untraceable satchels to the new blue/red Parcel Post Plus satchels) only occurred about 4 months ago I am not surprised that the old satchels are still in circulation as the last of the old stock is sold out.
If the satchels in question were part of that product batch at that old price of $6.60 then I would think it would be unlikely that an underpaid mail notice would be applied if it was caught, however these satchels may be several years old, in which case several price rises might have occurred since they were purchased and the risk of being charged as underpaid increases if the satchel is caught.

Alice, I am not a seller so am not handling the AP satchels as often as a seller would, but I receive them regularly. I can see no difference between the satchels I received 2 years ago and the red and white ones I am still getting in the mail.
Are you seriously telling me that Australia Post has some way of checking when the satchels were bought, and more to the point...are they really checking them?
If time is being wasted in checking every red/white satchel going through our mail system then it is no wonder there are complaints of very slow delivery times.

Alice i phoned up Aus Post customer service and asked if we could still use the old red/white pre paid satchels and was informed that we could and how would Aus Post know when they were bought.....they are still being listed on ebay

Come on, Auspost is not that clever!
Keep using them, Prepaid is prepaid. You have already paid for the service for Auspost to deliver them. It does not state anywhere on the satchel that they have to be used within a certain time frame. As far as I can see if you use the same satchel 10 years down the track they should still have to honour it.
They have kept your money for 10 years and collected free interest that that money as well.
