But gold plated jewellery is not Vermeil gold Rabbit.

Both components are 100% authentic metals, eligible to be listed as Fine jewellery.

But you still have not answered my question....are you wanting to list it yourself or are you going on a crusade to report sellers who are listing it in Fine Jewellery.

Have you tried the Collectibles board as I suggested?

"Gold Plated Silver" Jewellery is one thing. VERMEIL  is another - It has to be minimum 10k and plated to a minimum thickness.

I have bought some and was going to list it, but I don't think I will - well, not under this ID anyway.

No, I haven't tried collectibles, but I will now.

Re: VERMEIL GOLD

I just read another of that seller's guides. He/she is either totally naive or is lying through his/her teeth. He/she says:

"all of our jewellery is either stamped the following stamps which are International Stamp of authenticity

stating the carat of the metal used in making these items of jewellery if you buy a item which hasnt been stamped then
there's a good chance its not real .

Please make sure your seller states that the jewellery is stamped as mentioned its a stamp of authenticity."

"Stamp of authenticity' - my fat aunt!!  There are THOUSANDS chains  stamped "925" or "925 Italy" and they are ALL FAKE.

On another point, it says "is either stamped ...." {or what} ?????

Not at all Padi, thanks you very much for that. It also put me on to the other guides by the same user.

Re: VERMEIL GOLD

OK, given that, why would anyone buy gold-plated silver when after a few weeks they are going to end up with a tatty looking half-gold and half-silver item anyway? Why pay a premium price for gold-plated silver? May as well buy gold-plated jeweller's metal (ie copper/brass etc).

Re: VERMEIL GOLD

There is quite alot of vermeil jewellery out of Italy, Milor of Milan is one maker and I also have some marked Itaor.

Basically it is solid silver with a heavy layer of gold, and I have been wearing a couple of the pieces for quite a while without any discolouration of the chains or my skin, and no visible tarnish or fading. I am quite happy with vermeil as long as it's correctly described.

Thanks for that ....

"To be considered VERMEIL, the gold must be at least 10 karat (42%) and be at least 2.5 micrometers thick".

so if it's only coated with 9ct it would not be vermeil ..... is that what everyone else thinks?? or is that just a USA thing??

I think you have too much time on your hands.
