Why is it that when I go to my saved searches they always default to that meaningless 'Best Match' nonsense?
Thanks to this 'Best Match' debacle, buyers don't get to see which items are ending soonest, and miss bidding on them and generating INCOME FOR THE SELLERS AND EBAY ITSELF....
Also, why do my searches now include overseas items, when I specifically pre-selected to view AUSTRALIA ONLY?
Is eBay currently run by bonobos??

No, the whole point is that I HAVE set my search options and they do not include that 'Best Match' balderdash.

That's odd, my saved searches always use the same criteria I used when I saved it (everything ranging from only searching a specific seller's items for a specific item, to search order, price bands, filters etc). Have you tried editing them to update the search options?
The Australian-only option can't be saved by default in a general search, they'll always show items available to Australia from OS and you have to tick the box each time, but your saved searches should exclude overseas items from showing if the box was ticked before saving it.

I had very specific parameters for my saved searches, but these seem to have been over-ridden by eBay, who apparently know more than I do about what I'm looking for....
It most certainly WAS possible to save a search with Aust-only listings -- in fact, my email notifications still say 'New items that match: xxxx, Located In: Australia' which is how I set them.
When I'm interested in looking at items located overseas, I will choose to look at items located overseas.

'Could it be that many overseas sellers are now listing on ebay.com.au ?'
It's not that, I get unwanted hits from people selling all over the world in their own currencies. Very annoying when I'm only wanting to see specific Australian-made collectibles.

My searches do it too Kustom, its an absolute pain as I have everything saved as newest first, and I have to keep correcting it.
It only started doing this several months ago, before this, I never had a problem

Thanks thebahnfind... glad I'm not just imagining this! And yes, it has only been a few months since this started happening.
Ebay.com.au seems to be making a push for us to buy globally- - and yet when I asked them why they have such wildly differing policies, fees, rules, categories and 'benefits' from the USA, they told me that's a completely different market with different requirements...!
Their staff turnover must be enormous.... even on the same day, I end up dealing with multiple 'advisors' on the same question.

Could it be that many overseas sellers are now listing on ebay.com.au ?
It's actually that eBay is allowing Chinese sellers free listings to get them away from the major player in China, which is Taobao.
The Chinese get free listings and all sorts of other enticements to draw them in.
