Well hats off to the oxygen-starved morons! They've really done it this time!

Listen to this garbage.
Our main account has almost 1800 ratings, a feedback score of 99.8%.  We have bronze powerseller status, and our account is always PRE-paid so that we never have a bill at the end of the month.  Registered for about two years.

We decided about a month ago to open a second account just to use for clearance stuff - to keep it separate from our main sales, and to make cheapies easy to find for buyers.  I had mulled it over before, but couldn't be bothered with all the ' work your way up to selling'  garbage so hadn't bothered.  An Ebay rep, who I contacted over the phone via the national relay service as I'm hearing impaired, told me that it wasn't necessary to do that because we already have an established account.  "Bewdy!" thinks me.  Opens a second account, and messages to say ' ok lift the lid, this is who I am' .... yeah... NOT.  So we've had the slow crawl month by month to have the selling limit raised.  Annoyed, but dealing with it... just.

Today I logged on to list a few more clearance items. AND SAW FIRE ENGINE RED.  NOW there's a notice up saying that due to being a relatively new seller bla bla bla reputation safety bla bla bla Paypal funds for transactions will be held for UP TO 21 Days! UNLESS there is a dispute in which case it can be LONGER.  I use the same paypal account for both usernames, so only funds from the clearance account are subject to this ridiculousness.

HOW are new sellers in particular, going to POST items for which they cannot access the funds?  I mean MY personal objection is on principle, but if I were just starting out, and doing it because I was broke, I would be UNABLE to post until funds had cleared.
What the hell are they playing at?

Ok rant over.  FOR NOW.

Hi am*3

I have done all of that - it's like beating your head against a brick wall... a Chinese one.
I dont' think they truly comprehend what it is that I say to them, and that's the honest truth.

I believe that when I first saw the 21 day hold policy, it also stated that funds for the shipping would be released to the seller.

https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/security/payment-holds

Yes, just checked, it says that shipping is released after purchase.

So there is a condition but shipping funds can be released.

Thanks Treasures. I'll pass that on and see what he gets back to me with. I do know he linked his accounts to get a higher listing limit (10 per month to 30 per month) but not sure if that makes a difference or not.

Hi Amber!

Yes that's fine IF you ship via Australia Post, however we use Fastways Courier for most of our sales - Ebay satchels but they cannot be printed through Ebay - you have to go to the courier's own website.

Yeah tha'ts what I have done, and plodded up to 120 and stuck there for another month.  It's insane.

I would be really interested to know if he has had this same carp applied to his account or whether it's just me lol...... my inability to sit down and shut up gets me offside with Ebay, however I have noticed that the last few messages through support have been thoughtful and non-scripted.... perhaps my caps lock have finally gotten something through eh hehe

I am not whining about not being able to post items here - just wanted to make that clear.

I can afford to wait 21 days for it to turn around if I have to until the criteria on that second account are met, because my main account sales are well and truly enough to cover it.

It's the whole principle of it that I'm cranky about.... the fact that they cannot put 1 & 1 together and come up with 2.

It's the fact that having linked the two accounts, provided identification information, AND linked both accounts to the same Paypal account, I shouldn't HAVE to do that!  Ya know?

Hi 🙂

Yes, it isn't such a great policy but it is designed to stop scammers. All the iPhones and cameras (non-existent) listed and sold by zero feedback sellers.

A while back there was a thread about someone who bought a camera and received an envelope. The envelope was posted by the seller to try to release the funds being held by Paypal as it was a lot of money, and he was new. Needless to say, there wasn't a camera.

So I can understand the policy. But totally agree that established sellers with a good reputation should be able to easily start new accounts in good standing, too, and just get on with selling.

Just put in the link about the shipping release for general info, for anyone new who might read this thread 🙂

Hey Treasures. I got an email back from my friend. He has sold a few things on his new account and can't see any messages anywhere about having funds held. None under the sold items, none on any area of his selling page. I even asked him to click so just sold items were showing and nothing.

He now has 6 feedback, but the intial sales were when it was still 0 feedback and there was still no mention of funds being held.

Interestingly, I got one of those eBay spam emails a little while ago and there was mention of why funds might be held. I clicked on it and it took me to the Seller Centre and no mention of funds being held. I finally found it by clicking on a few different things and when I read the checklist, my mate fits the criteria for having funds held. First sale less than 90 days old, 25 or fewer sales transactions and less than $250 in sales.

In view of that, I wonder why you are having funds held and he isn't? His main selling account only has about 600 feedback, so he's far from being a high volume seller. Probably 400 of those feedbacks are from buying too.

Well... that's just **bleep**ed me off in a huge way.    I'm pleased for him that he doesn't have the same carp, becuase it's just not reasonable when you can prove you're an established seller, particularly high volume.  What's grinding my gears is that clearly what's good for the goose is NOT always good for the gander.  I'm not going to say anything to E-tards about it, because I don't want to upset the applecart for those who may be slipping under the radar with this ridiculous policy. I'm going to plod through it until it is removed.  But thank you so much for letting me know.... because it really has proven to me that behind the scenes the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing, and clearly the right hand is playing with itself.
