Yes, no question now in my mind that throttling is happening across the board! All my items have extremely low view counts, watchers, etc... way down on normal and way down on the same levels for the same items a few weeks ago. Just had an offer on an item from SA again, and I hardly ever get sales from SA, added to the recent sale from there, it seems eBay have turned my lights on for SA only, how nice of them!!

Interesting idea on the Alan Jones thing, but why not follow up on your own idea?

Oh cripes, have we come to that?!

I don't tolerate him well but I'd probably have to listen to him rant on behalf of ebay sellers.... it'd be cringey but compelling, and possibly hilarious. I wouldn't blame people for trying, not a lot else seems to work.

Forgot to add too, that the throttling happens to coincide with my average monthly sales figure. As soon as I get near, everything grinds to a halt, then miraculously at the start of the month I have a surge in sales, until I 'get tto big for my boots' agian and it dwindles off again. Happening too many months in a row to be a coincidence!

Re: What has happened to ebay? No sales it is frightening .Anyone else ??????

I can relate to what you are saying and one thing I know for certain is that I cannot continue to operate a business within the confines of ebay's parameters ... it absolutely baffles my business sense how ebay is being run these days and unfortunately I cannot see any changes for the better happening anytime soon, time to branch out and increase exposure as I can no longer consider the ebay platform to be a major contender for online shopping any longer

on a final note as a buyer, if I wanted to purchase items from the big name stores who are now on ebay I would do one of two, visit the stores own website directly or physically visit one of the many retail outlets, I would not shop at these stores via ebay as I would not see the point, just my opinion

Re: What has happened to ebay? No sales it is frightening .Anyone else ??????

I'm a buyer only on eBay, but if the reports on "throttling" are true then it would explain why many of my regular sellers are pulling out of eBay as a selling platform. I know that up to a couple of years ago my watchlist was standing at around 150+ items, it now sits on about a third or less of that, and about half of my regular sellers are gone.

Because of eBay's attitude towards small/medium sellers I'm not even considering setting up as a seller here anymore, hence there is absolutely no point in me buyng here to onsell at a later date  (think MBG, 180 day Paypal process, the defect system, money gouging on postage, near total inaction on scammers, let alone the preferential treatment that's given to big name sellers be they Aussie or Asian and you'll get my drift)

eBay when I first joined was a far better place to trade on, it seems that the hierarchy that controls this platform have completely forgotten what made it so good, and have instead taken the microscope and a big stick to their small to medium sellers and worked out more and more ways to shaft them, which is akin to killing the goose with the golden eggs.

Sooner or later there will be a viable alternative to eBay and then watch the feathers fly when the shareholders demand to know why there was such a big stuff-up in management's long term goals.

I feel for you, and other sellers that are trading on eBay as a primary income source! I am just a hobby seller at present, but I can only imagine the stress those that have been a long term seller and/or are relying on eBay for survival must feel. I agree that to a lot of people, eBays new policies or business strategy makes no sense, it begs the question though from what perspective does it make sense? Certainly from the perspective of ebay continuing to be a platform for all to sell pretty much anything, it makes zero sense. However, from the perspective of eBay wanting to become a giant online shopping centre for the big corporations, whilst eliminating small sellers and siding with big business interests it makes perfect sense!!

Yes, exactly my own thinking! Why buy an Harvey Norman product from eBay when you can just go their own site? Sadly the days of eBay being a marketplace for rare and hard to find items is coming to an end I feel?

I agree with a lot of what you say, but I am still happy to make the vast bulk of my income from ebay. I just try not to worry too much about it all. I cant change ebay policy, so I just try to concentrate on the job of selling stuff, packing stuff, answering questions and generally getting on with business. The new return policies have not had too much effect. One of my stores is starting to get a few defects but I cant really do any more than I am already doing to keep my customers happy. The FVF on postage hurts with international sales, but they are still expanding.  The throttling is an issue particularly with business expansion, but at least I know how much I,m going to sell each month, so I can plan on that. (  thanks ebay    Smiley Wink  )    Auctions of collectables are working well on the private account and with the regular 100 free listings, they keep me busy if the stores are a bit slow. The stores generally hit the same reasonable sales each month regardless of how much or little I do.

There have been a lot of changes recently which can be stressfull and there are more on the horizen. I just intend to keep selling as long as it is viable, while planning for a time when ebay no longer works for me. I try not to stress too much about things that I cant change. ( Must be the scotch & cokes I've had tonight talking LOL )

Re: What has happened to ebay? No sales it is frightening .Anyone else ??????

Yes, I'm doing the same.

I'm only listing extra items when the free listing promotions come along (fingers crossed for Easter) .... And then in between, I  list the most popular/saleable items....  just a couple each day.  (I try to avoid the $1.50 fee to list)

As sales are slow and I have more time as a result, I pre-list ahead, then (hopefully) when a promotion comes along, change the date to coincide with the promotion time.

I don't have a store, and completely rely on my auction site .... as long it keeps ticking along, I'm happy .... But I still miss the good times, which were only a few months ago ....  ๐Ÿ˜ž
