What has happened to the Traffic on Ebay?

Is it just me or has the traffic on Ebay taken a massive dive?

I have just come back to start selling saddles again after some years and have

noticed that traffic on Ebay is nowhere near where it used to be.

I have listed a saddle: LeTek DRESSAGE SADDLE

There is only 2 of them in total on the site and mine is cheaper so I would assume

that the lack of competition should see my item getting plenty of views but I am

not seeing very much traffic at all.

In fact I listed the same saddle on a new Aussie selling site and was really surprised that

the new site had more traffic to my item than Ebay had, the items were listed on both

sites on the same day.

As I write this the traffic is;

Ebay: 30 Views

Swapmeet: 53 Views

Thats quite a large difference!

Is anyone else seeing that the traffic on Ebay has taken a huge dive?

Not that ebay doesn't have huge problems with it's search engine and the site in general but it might help to include more keywords in your listing title. Maybe "horse riding", if I was to do a seach I would search for "horse saddle" and go from there, you don't mention a horse at all. Just sayin.

Good advice Dylan I might try that, but in my experience people looking for the saddles that I sell

generally know what type of saddle they are looking for ie. dressage saddle, general purpose saddle, western saddle etc.

even riding or work saddle. I  rarely search down through specific catagories to find something on ebay, other sites might have a better structure to do that.

Do you know anything about riding Dylan?

I suspect not.....if you were looking for a saddle that is exactly what you would look for.  The word "horse" would be superfluous in this case.

100% correct, people buying saddles don't type horse saddle, they are generally looking for a specific type of saddle and

know what they are looking for. So in this case "Dressage Saddle" is what they would type.

No not really. I have ridden for work, and seen plenty but nothing like the OP is talking about though. I think it is an important keyword. For some it may not be. It might even get a different type of buyer interested.

Re: What has happened to the Traffic on Ebay?

Dylan, I suggest you look at the price range of the saddles the OP is selling.  You would have to have more than a passing interest in horses to be spending that amount of money.

The word "horse" would not encourage a different type of buyer in this case.....you would know exactly what you want before rushing out and spending in excess of $1000.

I think the OP knows her target market...and it is not those that need the word "horse" to encourage them to buy.

Re: What has happened to the Traffic on Ebay?

I don't want to get into a big argument about it. I am assuming they know what they are talking about, and yes they know the market. To sell on ebay is a little different wouldn't you say (that was rhetorical). The word is there to find it......When I search fo something I do a general search and not specifics and then go from there, thats just me though.
