What is going on with these fees

Hi,

I can not believe the experience I have had selling a couple of tickets on ebay.com.au. Never mind the drama of convincing Ebay that the buyer has received the tickets after the receiver trying to convince them, now I am looking the fees breakdown.

I sold the tickets for $700 and receive Fees of -AU $106.42 and then read this

AmountAU $700.00
Fees (includes GST)-AU $106.42
 AU $593.58
Net ProceedsAU $400.64

Ummm, how does that add up. A AU$700 sale and I receive AU$400 before its travelled through the weird payment system that probably travels around the world.

Ebay can not even deduct their own fees correctly, and have almost taken half the sale in fees.

Im not sure if this is a joke, but will pursue to try and get them to account for this sale. But be warned that selling anything here is dangerous and amateurish at best.

Does anyone have similar experiences?

Cheers,

Grant

Re: What is going on with these fees

Hey,

Its me, thanks for all your replies....the end result (tho the funds still have not come through yet), is that due to haviing registered my account in NZ I get paid in USD $ (go figure) and the labelling on the Ebay website is wrong, the payout isnt in AU$ its the converted amount in USD labelled as AU....

So just a labelling bug in Ebay.

In short, selling these tickets was a horrendous due in part I believe to the super over complicated UI....the replies still were forthcoming from Ebay, if not annoyingly sedated...but they did reply and resolve everything (*fingers crossed) so well done to them. After all support dont write the software but get to taste the end result.

Well thats it, Im not going to delve into why USD or anything like that...though I would like to know from Oz Ebay users, do you need to use Payoneer  and do you get paid in USD ?

Cheers,

Grant

Re: What is going on with these fees

finally sorted it, before support came through, figured it was a bug and got reply back from support saying it was USD, but not after numerous request from me and the receiver to release the funds....

The ui is overly complicated

Re: What is going on with these fees

damn I dont know, I guess Ebay au received the money but paid it out in USD to the payoneer account, which by the way...signing up to that and receiving token expired errors within a cpl secs (prob due to timezone issues) was dont get me started frustrating ๐Ÿค

Re: What is going on with these fees

seller had to eventually, the support email replies to be fair, arent too bad, but they only answer one question at a time, if they considered the whole sale up front it could have been sorted more smoothly and in a shorter time frame

Re: What is going on with these fees

Three questions.

1. Do you reside in Australia?

2. What the heck is Payoneer?

3. Why would those of us that reside in Australia be paid in USD? We have our own currency here, like most countries. We receive our payments into our nominated bank account, in AUD.

If the answer to question one is yes, here's what you should do. Abandon this account and create a new one showing you are registered in Australia. You just need a new email address, which you can easily get through gmail or hotmail. You have 2 feedback, it's not like you'll be giving away a lifetime of selling feedback that took years to accumulate. Then you won't need to worry about USD or Payoneer (I really need to Google that, as it sounds really sus).

If the answer is no, then I have no idea!

As for my initial reply, I was just stating a fact. I factor in fees into my item price, so the buyer pays the fees, not me. I know it's a bit harder when selling tickets, because you can only mark them up by so much, but you could have bumped the postage price up to account for the fees. Advertising tickets for auction, all bets are off. If a buyer wants to pay double the face value, then not much ebay can do about that.
