What is the reason why a winning bidder would not pay and refuse to communicate with you?

I'm selling my XBOX ONE and the winning bid is $760, however the winning bidder refuses to pay and refuses to communicate with me. This has happened to me many many times before but I can't figure out the reason why you would bid in the first place if you have NO intention of paying for it (and not communicating with the seller at all leaving the sale in LIMBO). Is there are reason why they do this??????????????

Main reaon they doi it is that they don't understand that a bid is a commitmentent. Wait 4 days (if you haven't already), then go to the resolution page and report them to eBay as not having paid. eBay then give them a shove, and if they still haven't paid after another 4 days, they get a strike for non-payment and you get your final value fees back and can relist, or offer it to you next highest bidder.

You should also put them on your blocked bidder list, and if you haven't done so already, also block buyesr who have unpaid strikes, and maybe new eBayers (often a problem because they don't understand how it all works).

Only by going through the unpaid item process will you get your fees back, and only by receiving strikes will these time wasters learn.

Don't be tempted to leave any sort of negative remark on their feedback because that will only get you sanctioned. If they manage to leave negative feedback for you, PHONE eBay, explain all and it should be removed - non-payers are theoretically not able to leave feedback, but I have seen a few slip through.

Cheers,

Marina.

Maybe because the XBox One can still be bought instore unlike the PS4 and it retails for around $600

I understand the frustration, and agree with Marina's post, but there are some things you might want to consider which could help prevent this from happening again (if the winning bidder doesn't pay and you decide to relist it after the dispute process has been resolved). Hopefull some of it will be useful. ๐Ÿ™‚

As the console and included accessories have a pretty fixed RRP and they're relatively readily available, and since you listed with PayPal only, you may want to consider listing as a Buy It Now with immediate payment required, as that will prevent anyone from going through with the purchase unless they pay for it straight away. You would of course have to decide on a fixed price, though.

Another issue is postage, but you can (and probably should, either way), use the calculated postage option rather than flat rate. If you enter the package dimensions and weight, the postage displayed and charged will vary based on the buyer's location (it uses Australia Post's pricing), so you wouldn't have to worry about under or overcharging on postage whether you used instant payment or not. You can also add in an amount for a handling charge (done separately but included in the total P&H), so if you need to add extra for packaging materials, signature on delivery and insurance (strongly recommended due to the item's value, whether the buyer wants / pays for it or not), you can do it there.

The only major issue with listing it that way is that you will allow pick-up. That in itself is not an issue, but accepting PayPal for a pick-up item can be. (There is no PayPal buyer or seller protection for pick up items, and immediate payment will only work if PP is the only payment option offered, so that exposes you to a potential risk).

Well there could be two other reasons.

They or a friend could also have one for sale and they are attempting to keep the price up.

Or they may not like you and just want to mess you around.
