What type of Paypal account should I create for eBay seller account?  Business or Private?

I'm new to eBay and plan to open an eBay store. First I'm starting as a Basic Store.

When linking the eBay account, should I create a Paypal Business account or can I use my existing Paypal personal account to receive payments for my sales from eBay?

Does eBay transfer the money to Personal Paypal accounts if seller is a business account?

(I'm in Australia)

LET’S TRY AGAIN:

if you are new to eBay then you should not be thinking about opening a store as you will have selling limits as a new seller.  These limits will prevent you from taking full advantage of the benefits afforded store holders.

My advice, for what it is worth, is start selling now! Don’t try to start big, start small.

Do as you have been advised on your other thread and sell a few things from around your house.  It might be old kids toys or some collectables you have saved . . . but get your selling credentials up to scratch before opening a store.  Go to the Post Office and get hold of some of the Aussie Coin Hunt $1 coins for $1 each and sell them on eBay for $2 with free postage.  You could quickly get 20 feedback doing that.

A few questions for you:

- are you aware of what the selling limits are for new sellers?

- do you know about the 21 day hold on funds?

- do you know how long buyers have to make a PayPal Claim?

- do you know the $ value monthly limit for new sellers?

- have you read books by Matt and Amanda?

- do the letters MBG mean anything to you?

While you might think I am being negative about you setting up to sell on eBay I AM NOT.  My posts are designed to get you shop ready.  If you can’t correctly answer ALL the questions I have asked then you are not shop ready.

There is absolutely no advantage in opening a store, you'll need over 100 listings AND a good sell-through rate to make it viable, as was said in the first 2 responses on this thread.

G'day SLR, I'm also banging my head on this...............original.gif

I'm not even going to bother banging my head against a brick wall!

nirman, have you checked the opposition? You'll be selling into a flooded market. You'll also be selling into a scam prone market (buyer says didn't receive, you lose your money and the item).

Buyers don't care whether you have a store or not, so forget about a store until you're selling enough that the reduced fees on your sales make a store worth paying for.

Your feedback stays whether you have a store or not. You're still the same seller, the store is just an extra.

This is the last comment I'm going to bother making because you don't seem to want to listen.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. I plan to sell small items like phone cases and accessories. I feel selling as a mature personal seller might not attract the customers. So thought of paying for a store even though I have to pay the monthly fee by my hand for a few months.

Since I do not have a selling history, I thought opening a store might give a competitive advantage.

If I sell a few items personal and get good feedbacks and upgrade to a business store later, will ebay update those reviews in my new store account?

phone cases  . . . sure, there aren’t many of them on eBay! Just kidding, these ARE one of the most saturated items on eBay.  Do a search on this for ‘Australia only’ and you get over 7 million listings.  Good luck cracking that market!

OPENING A STORE WILL NOT GIVE YOU A COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE (sorry for shouting).

Are you asking about feedback or reviews?  Feedback stays with your ID.

Sadly, I wouldn't expect them to have done any homework first. I hope they haven't bought a heap of phone cases (or anything else). They probably don't have a clue what fees are involved and could well end up making a loss on them.

Some dreams should remain just that - a dream. If they're turned into reality they're more likely to become a nightmare.

The OP has been doing plenty of homework on how to buy his stock an get it into the country by picking our brains.

Given he is clueless about the process we can only hope he does not work it out so has no stock to list.

I have given up trying to explain GST and importi charges and when/how they are paid.

Oh dear!

nirman has listed some items.  Can’t see them making any money with free postage items.

$2.99 with free postage. Minus the item cost. Minus $2 postage cost. Minus the eBay and PayPal fees. Minus the cost of envelope/padded bag. Total earnings per sale, less than $0. I don't understand why people sell things to make a loss? Why make eBay the winner in a sale? What is the point? It looks like he's trying to stay under what the Chinese sell for. Can't compete with them and you will never make money if you try.

This has disaster written all over it. A very short lived selling career I'd say. Give it a day or 2 and I'm sure a store will be opened, and he'll register his account as a business account.............

Edit: Oh dear, he's stolen the photos and probably the description from Alibaba.......given the watermarks are still on the photos. That keyboard cleaner is going to be too fat to go as large letter, so massive loss on that item.

Am a bit confused about "Mature Personal Seller".  What has that got to do with anything.  Nobody is going to know if you are young or old when they look at your listings.  Please, please listen to the great advice given to you in this thread.
