What was changed on ebay recently? My sales dropped 50%

Not sure what happed but guess ebay has made some changes on search results. My sales dropped about 50% recently. Anyone has noticed that?

I have seen your post and that's one of the reason  I posted my guess here. If you look at my previous post in this thread I said that with huge increase in traffic I have even bigger decline in sales. I could not understand this anomaly and now I know why it may happening  It would be  exactly that like it if these extra visitors came from overseas.

If I am right ebay has ruined my business here completely by this default search settings.

Most of my items cannot be posted overseas because their postage cost will kill their cheapness. I'd rather pay now few hundreds a month to google for adwords driving Australian customers to my online shop than paying the same to ebay that generates almost zero sales.

Hi ozstockman, I completely agree with you.  I am on my 10th day now without a sale. 

I have a couple of auctions with bids but I am not counting them as usually I mostly sell store GTC listings, approx 1 to 2 a day. 

I have been through lots of changes but nothing has ever impacted as much as this.

Bluddy heck. I sell books, a category which is flooded with dropshippers selling for less than I can post for.

I sold twice as many books in April as I did in April 2012.

And I am certain my offerings don't rate high in 'best match' as I usually only have 1 of any book I'm selling.

Maybe quality outs?

Hi all, this latest change with ebay default search has also killed our business as well, have never seen sales stop like they have, thanks ebay for destroying our little business, time to look else where if they are not going to change it back to how it was, I do hope everyone will be ok and work out other ways to succeed and promote their businesses.

This default search change has also killed my sales too, I only just opened my store and will now be cancelling it. Ebay you need to change this or you will lose nearly all of the Australian sellers.

My sales are down by at least 80% Im now moving my items to the other site. Sales there may also be slow but its FREE and there is now no FVF either so its totally FREE to sell there. All it costs is some time and effort. I beleive many of the reasons for slow sales here, as listed above are valid. Higher postage, site mismanagement etc etc. But the most important factor of all I beleive is that people are disheartened. I am mainly a seller but I also buy a lot. When my sales are down and Im concerned about that, Im hardly likely to look to buy from others. So I think its very simple. Thousands of Ebay sellers are, at the moment experiencing record low sales and as such are not buying either. Thus the sales are plumeting even further across the board. many of us have always wondered if one day Ebay would push things too far. Im not sure if thats the case but I for one have been. This wbsite idea is a good one I guess.

Me too....my feedback has dropped of late so I've kind of assumed it was due to that however I'm starting to wonder if that's really the reason having read everyone else's comments tonight. I am always mindful of the effort and time that's required in order to maintain a store of good standing regardless of how busy I am elsewhere. Have not been able to post more than 3 times a week of late - buyers don't like that at all!

Just hoping that if I keep the store interesting, and try my best with customers that things will pick up. My sales are probably the worst they've ever been in almost 3 years, so bad that I phoned ebay last week to see if there had been any selling restrictions placed on my store - there hadn't. Hmmmm, very frustrating indeed.

I think last night's official retail figures for the first quarter of this year are very telling, when there has been an across the board drop in sales of 0.4%.

Add to that the exorbitant AP postal increases as well as ebay's fee 'restructuring' and it becomes fairly obvious why ebay sales are also down considerably, and are unlikely to improve any time soon. 😞

Agree 100% with everyone, ebay is just a huge amount of work for me and I'm over it.

I'm being swallowed alive by cheap chinese junk.

With sellers that refuse to accept Paypal payments and the lack of buyer protection I have never felt wanted or safe on that site.
