No, I wouldn't necessarily say it's 'fine'. That is a good point. It'd make a great philosophy essay question:
'Is it worse for 1 person to be scammed out of $20k than 20 people being scammed out of $1k? Answer from the argument that people cannot and should not be saved from themselves'.
Tricky, I think I'd need at least 1500 words to answer that. Meanwhile I'm still chuckling over the roses.. I must be evil.

To be honest I think (hope) that the majority of these seeds etc have been purchased as pressies much the same as you would buy things in a novelty store, just the thing for a gardener who has everything. The idea that so many people could actually believe what the listings say is too depressing to consider.

Of course it isn't right but let's face it you would have to be pretty dumb to fall for most of these seed listings, people really do have to take the trouble to activate a few brain cells before pressing the buy button. It is rather disheartening to know that 3,612 people are so gullible, extrapolate that number to the general population and it doesn't say much for the future of the human race!
That's what the scammers rely and I must have a different outlook because any money taken by a scammer is
wrong IMHO,(it doesn't matter whether it's a $1 or less and it will upset the person once they find out that they
have being scammed),
Scammers have no place on an auction site and the site is responsible for refusing to take the listings down.
The seed listings have been reported on numerous occasions and links where included to show how they
"changed" the items to produce these fake scam items.
The total FVF made by eBay on all these fake items would come to around $2000,(that's all they would've
made from them).
The negative feedback given on gardening and other forums will cost them a lot more in creditability and
will have a bigger impact in lost revenue then that 2 grand.
eBay's lack of ethics proves that they don't care about their members and as long as most items are making
money they can stay,

Before posting these sort of comments you should at least have some idea as to what you are talking about,
I've stated FAKE seed listings,(not genuine seed listings).
Check back on: http://community.ebay.com.au/t5/Buying/Fake-watch-listing-reported-to-eBay-Nothing-happens/m-p/18132...
That way at least you'll have some knowledge of what I'm talking about,
Jumping in with no prior knowledge is never going to work,(you need to revise your "tactics").

well tazz what is in your opinion a fake seed , are you saying fruit wont come from these seeds ,and just because you know more than anybody else ,why shoukd ebay remove them ,without proof, even if you are right. should ebay listen to every person , if i call ebay to say there is a bloke selling false paint brushes why should they believe me , they have to make up there own minds being correct or not. there are more series fakes online that sell for big money to worry about some chinese person making 10 cents or so a sale.

Taz never said that.
Stop twisting words.
It does you a disservice.
The fake fruit items have been reported hundreds of times by many different people.
It is not acceptable practice by eBay trust and safety, to not investigate their validity - given the reputational damage their continued sale can do to our trading place
Remember Joe, eBay has never seemed to hesitate in taking the listings of many small to medium size AU sellers down for inadvertent, much more minor matters than fraud.

Joe, Joe, Joe PLEASE stop with this nonsense.
You have not been on the boards long enough to be familiar with the Hijack Hunters thread which is now defunct.
It exposed all these fake listings for rainbow rose seeds, fake coloured fruits seeds and now the Budda shaped fruits.....along with hundreds of other scam listings.
There are members out there who see the real exotic fruits and assume that all the ebay adds are real...they are not!!!!!
Are you trying to singlehandedly destroy the good that posters like Tazz have done by saying that he is wrong?
You are currently arguing for the sake of it. I challenge you top spend your own money and purchase some rainbow rose seeds, some Budda fruits and a few exotice coloured fruits....and report back here in a few months time with the results. I can guarantee you will be asking for help to have the sellers stopped.
You get upset at a seller who reuses envelopes to save a few cents on postage, but you are happy to see all these fake listings and don't think these sellers should be stopped.

read my post on letters i was asking is this normal practice that sellers re use envelopes
