Had a bad experience with a very slow-paying buyer. I am unable to leave negative or even neutral feedback. I note that others have been unhappy with her and the only way they can do this is by leaving positive feedback (with warnings to not deal with her) in the comments column. This is very unfair to all those who do the right thing. Bad sellers are able to be outed via feedback, so why not buyers?

Here's eBay's announcement about changes to the Feedback system (2008), plus some FAQs.

Because how would you sell anything if there weren't any buyers out there so Ebay needs to protect these endangered species to go about their business in either making Ebay money or annoying the hell out of a seller

I read a post once where a seller was complaining about this.
"The threat of leaving negative feedback is the only form of leverage I have"
It's been my experience as a buyer that getting a negative was a form of revenge by the seller.
Only ever received 2 and I only got them as I had opened a dispute with Paypal.
And why wait for payment?
4 days to pay as per Ebay or a UPI is opened
then they either pay or get a strike from Ebay

I will never sell on eBay again! Can't believe I can't leave negative feedback when the buyer never went through with the transaction. At least have a category of "A dispute was opened by a seller and was not resolved" or something similar so that these experiences can be recorded for others to see.
The best thing about ebay was the feedback, made me feel safe and kept both buyers and sellers happy.
What a pity

You open a dispute. If they don't pay, you close the dispute, get your FVF back and the nonbuyer gets a strike. Far more useful than a neg against a member that most won't even have a chance to see.
Have you read the site map, bottom of every page? Any other threads on this matter, of which there are usually at least three on the front page of this board? This one?
Do you think we care?
This is the seller board. Few of us would lament the loss of a rival

So Ebay are constantly altering feedback and reviewing procedures.
Why is eBay changing feedback?
eBay is constantly reviewing and evaluating the Feedback system to meet the community’s needs. The changes will improve the honesty of feedback and provide benefits to buyers and sellers alike.
Well six years on buyers are abusing the process. Can not be bought to account and sellers are leaving or getting frustrated because buyers are now fearless
And are Ebay still constantly reviewing the feedback process?
And the same small handfull of people defend them ad nauseum.

I absolutely agree.. i had the same experience and i was left a neg feedback because i cancelled the transaction waiting for a buyer to acknowledge my email... then he left me a neg feedback... EBay wont remove it and i got docked 5% for one neg out of my 230 positive comments..!
eBay is missing the point,.. the sellers pay 10% of their win and get no protection in return
Something wrong with that business model... I know it will mean the end to eBay eventually

Some sellers deserve bad feedback.
They take our money and then dont supply the goods or they send something that is broken or is nothing like the item they advertise
Cancelling a transaction because they didnt reply to your email isnt a reason for negative feedback.
Getting a negative for cancelling the transaction is.
They paid what more did you want from them?

Fatbelly11, your feedback percentage is calculated over the last 12 months and during that time, whilst you may well have had a total of 49 transactions, only 28 of those were sales with 2 negative feedbacks, which means that your current 96.1% is completely accurate, and because they're fairly recent negs, it will be another 10 months before you return to 100% (assuming no more negs during that time).
I'd be far more concerned with your DSRs, particularly in the Item Description and Postage Time categories. As with feedback, DSR average ratings are calculated on a rolling 12-month basis and if they fall much lower you could find your selling activities restricted, or even worse.
