The only difference is Reg post is now only for letters and S&D is for parcels.... and Reg is more expensive!
I asked the lady at the PO why this was now happening and she could only offer embarrassed agreement that it makes no sense.
And lest we forget "AUSTRALIA POST PARCEL POST PARCEL" is an actual service!!!
Who sits around dreaming up these inane 'services'??

No, the 'sign on delivery' (parcels) does not have automatic cover of up to $100, you MUST pay the 'extra cover' for that
(whether you can get the 'discretionary' compo of up to $50 is anyone's guess)
Click and send products with signature on delivery still technically has compensation up to $100 without having to purchase extra cover. It is still in the click and send terms and conditions on their website, AP appear to have overlooked changing this most important information.
Regardless of what they put in their other glossy books, or the misguided advice given by AP representatives, the AP terms and conditions are exactly the spot that the postal ombudsman looks to in their investigations of cases.
AP is bound by all of its terms and conditions under their own legislation, as well as in relation to contract and consumer legislation.

Let's hope that the airing of this information doesn't cause an abrupt change to AP's T&Cs.
I contend that they offer a carriage service, regardless, and if they don't comply with the implied terms (delivering) they are liable. Hopefully somebody else will test that.

I hope other sellers can benefit from this information whilst it is available and not fork out extra cover for the first $100, on top of the increased charge for SOD.
Don't think the information on these boards means anything to AP or the reps that frequent the board. After the changes first came in earlier this year, I advised Alice from AP on these very boards, that the Terms and Conditions had not changed and were still indicating that compensation of $100 under the same terms as extra cover, was included with signature on delivery.

Okay. I'd still prefer somebody else having to test it.

Given you have no missing parcels to worry about, it won't be you then 🙂

You got that right.

You only have to be persistent, Kustom.
If you keep at them, they will eventually give you up to $50 compensation on STANDARD POST (regardless of what they tell you) if you can provide proof.
Postage receipt + a copy of your eBay sale will do.
According to boardies Aus Post are very tight fisted and anyone who receives compensation is lucky. Also look at what happens when an item is lost or damaged - sellers cop it from buyers and Aus Post aren't interested and ebay are so helpful they hold sellers responsible.

just call me Rucky Dave
.........AP offered twice to give me back the $2.95 cost for the signature.... I played like the ostrich...
....... Thanks very much for your kind 😐 original offer AP however I am a mechanic...
If I put diesel oil in one of your petrol engine delivery vans and it blew up would you expect me to pay to fix the problem my negligence caused or would you be happy for me to refund the difference in price between the correct oil and the incorrect oil and leave the rest of the cost up to you????
The parcel was delivered fine and the customer was happy... but I did not get my signature 😐 so I think it only fair that you reimburse my the complete cost of freight as you have finally acceded to in the letter below as a
"gesture of good will"
Just between me you and the fly on the dunny wall I would much prefer the service that I originally requested to be provided correctly in the future;-)

AP definitely are tight fisted DV, but honestly, if you're persistent, they will compensate. They will try not to, sometimes even for weeks at a time, but they eventually will give in.
You know what bugs me about AP? An item I am selling, will I sell usually at least 1 a day of, weighs 460g. It's glass, and in a box and it's bubble wrapped. I have to add EXTRA bubble wrap because AP break them, and this pushes it over the 500g mark. I refuse to pay more than $6.95 postage for it and AP always let it through. My PO tried to charge me more only the once, until I stood there holding everyone up, opened up the parcel and showed them exactly why it goes over the 500g mark. If they didn't break items so often, I wouldn't need to add extra bubble wrap.
They broke two of those items before I began adding the extra BW. I sent them standard post (no tracking then). I kicked up a big enough fuss regarding their incompetence, I was refunded both lots of postage and both item sold prices.

They are usually very strict about weight. I can only remember receiving a discount once in over 10 years. The item was 1 or 2 grams over and the lady rounded it back. I have not experienced that miracle since of course and look forward to repacking more items to bring the weight down. Maybe they are scared of you. 😉
