a tricky one for sellers and the customer

Ok folks heres one for you, before ebay put the money back guarantee opon us i was selling, now in my listings i had no returns, now if i where to sell again ( not likely) and a buyer opened a return on ebay for item not as described, basicly i have to get it returned due to the new rules, now i know ebay says the seller pays return cost, now lets say i want the item returned in original packaging, australia post state that an opened package is not valid for returns, postage has to be paid, now during the three day period before ebay will step in i dont pay for the post ( just because i like to be difficult ๐Ÿ˜› ) after the three days when ebay can step in and *cough* help, will ebay make the seller pay for post or the buyer.

(Just also seeing what message tags is, so dont mind this bit) ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: a tricky one for sellers and the customer

if the return is for item not as described then seller pays. If you choose to refund for change of mind (you don't have to do this) the buyer pays if you so choose

No you can't change the reason now that it's in progress.

Re: a tricky one for sellers and the customer

So Harley, during the return process as a seller i would have to pay no matter what.
can i change a open return to change of mind, or once a return has been started i cant do that now?

Re: a tricky one for sellers and the customer

I don't believe so. I think the buyer has to decide why they are returning. Also note ebay have told some buyers to keep the item and also refunded them so you lose the item and also have to refund in full. It's a lose lose for sellers. pretty sure you get a defect too.

Re: a tricky one for sellers and the customer

With all these new rules on ebay I can still sell without too many dramas is because I have a great customer base, buyers that have been buying from me for many years and the occasional newbie that wants a piece of the action haha.

Re: a tricky one for sellers and the customer

I am pleased ebay is now forcing all sellers to do what good sellers have always done, if they are at fault they pay for return postage if they want the item back.

I have never done it any other way, I have always refunded item cost only on receipt of undamaged item for change of mind so the new rules make absolutly no difference to how I run my sales.
