I am a buyer - not a seller but if it helps your question I was in local retail computer service/sales store and was amazed to see that I was the only customer in sight. This store is usually always a hive of activity no matter the time of day or year....I have been a regular there for over 10 years. When I commented to staffie (only the store manager and 1 staffer there-they usually have at least 2 reps plus store mngr working in the store, on the shop floor...) on how quiet they were ...the reply I received was..." Oh, October is the quietest month of the year, it always is...." I replied "Really?...I always thought February,March and into April before Easter were pretty much the quietest months in retail?" they replied " Oh no, October is the quietest..."
I have never seen this 'October Quiet' thing before, in years past.
Not my experience anyways.
Hope things pick up for you lotsa m's and b's

I'm only a new seller and haven't yet sold through December but I'm expecting a large increase during that time due to Christmas.
What doesn't sell this month will be sold then
Using this quiet period to research and find stock and suppliers for Christmas sales also.

October 2012 - 18 sales
October 2013 - 48. So far
Admittedly I have twice as many listed now as then, but there are still a few days until the end of the month. And my sales since May have been far better than same months last year, so from my POV things are kicking along nicely.

Worst October on record for me.
Only good news is that my ebay bill on this id is lower than it has ever been for about three or four years as I have not been stung for a whole lot of final value fees due to massive sales slump.
Got to admit though this weekend sales have dramatically increased, but this seems primarily due to the free auction listings that were given away this month, and the 10,000 free listing current offer, which means I have been ending and relisting buy-it-nows for shorter periods to gain more exposure in newly listed, and ending soonest searches.

My sales are 1/3 of the previous month but it seems to be the way it goes, up and down round & round, its a hell of ride ole ebay! lol

sounds like davewil is the only one on this thread whos doing ok in october. hoping there'll be a free listings promo for non store sellers this weekend (as another poster said get your stock ready), or if not at least until it ticks over to nov and we get 40 free listings..............it is a lot less painful when you haven't paid $1.50 to list each item if they don't sell..............although still a waste of time.
It was the garage sale trail weekend just gone and friends I spoke to didn't get a good sales either...
