Has been watching a couple listings of late in a few different areas of ebay and has been noticing something that been catching my eye. And that there are sellers using some type of pricing bot/script on their listings any ideas what it is ??? And is it even allowed to be used on ebay ???
Have a look at this listing for an example of the script at work. IT hitting the listing every 10 mins and changing the price with out fail. And there a number of them across ebay in different areas.

The seller is permitted to revise the listing as many times as they like, it appears they have created a bot to perform the task for them on a regular basis and I presume they have it set to auto monitor the spot price and calculate any price fluctuation in the listing.
As bots are permitted on ebay for sniping etc, I doubt there is a problem with using one to manage your listings.

They are using a program that gives "elastic" pricing. The program can be set to change pricing at a set time,or monitor other sellers pricing and adjust accordingly, You can set up a strategy eg use the UPC and make your price x% lower than a rival it monitor their pricing and adjusts as required, or as here change on a regular basis. Lots of variations on a theme available. They maybe using it to give small up and down changes so as to gain some advantage in Best Match?.

WOW, if someone could point me to this feature that monitors my competitors prices, then that's a bit of a game changer. You could really monopolise your category sales using that.
A bit like the spot price of banana's when you walk into your local supermarket, have you noticed it can change several times a day !
(We have Aldi, Coles and Woolworst in same block).
As Lumikgroup wrote Dr Google is your friend. Note that these aren't free (or if they are they only have very limited ability), like all things eBay there is a price to be paid. Also in the attempt to monopolise the category you might go broke. Pricing is not just about what you sell it for, it's also about what what you paid for it. But they are a very handy tool.

can see why they are using It what you have stated the best Match thing. Ebay loves stores that either load new stock each day or changes in listings daily we have found as they see new activity in the store. If ya list and forgot we have found ya go to the bottom of the pile it wierd that side of ebay as we have found hits and watches do not play a major part as much as the daily activity . hence the pricing changes

LOL... that's so funny I can't stop laughing
ebay loves stores ....lol
That has nothing to do with position in searched mate, i have listing I haven't touch in 5 years and still show on top
Only way would make a difference would be if you actually close the listing and reopen it and eBay will see it as new listing.
Other than that, you can do a million revisions and a million listing, will not change search position in any way
Hits do actually play a major role in search position, huge actually
