I've paid by e-cheque a couple of times (much to my surprise - I certainly didn't choose that option).
Turns out I was paying for purchases on Freaky Fridays. ๐

gemini - patience is certainly a virtue on eBay :^O - problem being, often it is the buyer who does not realise the e-chq takes time to clear and starts sqeaking about when are you sending item etc etc. Messages back and forth are what is annoying to me more than the echq itself.

it can be mildly annoying if a buyer waits until day 7 after a dispute has been opened to pay by echeque but if they pay straight away their payment is going to clear almost as quickly as a buyer who makes an instant payment on day 4.

I have had Paypal payments go as e-cheques before. I think it was because I had my PP, linked to a verified bank account and not a credit card. PP took the money from my bank account the next morning, but the e-cheques were pending on PP for quite a a few days.

Yes, when PP takes the money from your bank that is called echeque, just as any cheque it will show as taken out of your account immediately, but will not appear in the other account until it is cleared. That is how cheques work; nothing to do with PP taking their time. ๐

ahhhhhh.....this why I have received a few negative feedback s in regard to "Handling & postage" time frames..... I was real annoyed when being paid by this eCheque system...waiting till the funds cleared.... Then posted the item and then copping a negative response from a buyer for taking so long to get an item to them... I complained to eBay, to which I got no explanation, nor did they, or have they rescinded those negative comments.....mmmm...makes one wonder if an honest "Seller" has any right at all.
Thanks to this seller and not eBay, I now understand the "ins and out" of this eCheque ....... Pity I could not have informed when I asked

Why drag up an old thread just to vent?
What do you mean about not understanding how echeques work? It is explained very clearly by Paypal in the terms, conditions and policies you sign to agree you have read and understood when you opened your Paypal account!
Communication is the key, when I receive an eqheque I email the buyer thanking them for their payment and telling them Paypal give an estimated clearance date of xx/yy but it may take a day or two longer but their item will be posted as soon as the payment clears. never had a problem or a neg from an echeque user.
It says in this book I am reading that by 2065 80% of women will be overweight.

Sorry pj I am adding to the old thread, and like you I always email the buyer re the eCheque - but get this reply (not directly quoted)
Seller - my payment has cleared from my end, all other sellers send to me within 24 hours, please send today.
eChq notification on 14th, above reply to my message advising eChq clearance 15th. gggrrrr whats the bet I get neut/neg and my stars trashed! Just hoping the buyer knows so little about eBay that she leaves me 0 on the stars. ]:)
