Hi, after a bad experience buying clothing off ebay I decided to try again......
purchased a couple of pre loved items they arrive and both have marks on the front.
one I don't think the marks will come out the other item may come clean.
the marks stand out, they are right there on the front of the items, can't miss them really.
only fault on one item is the mark on the front the other item has marks on the front a cigarette burn on the hem at the back (could cut a bit off the hem and re-hem) and 2 large holes on the inside of each side where I'm guessing breast pads were cut out (not sure if I can do anything to fix that)
question is can I give the items a wash, try to remove the stains now or should I open a dispute before doing anything?
I have messaged the seller haven't heard anything back yet but did only message them today so will give them a chance to reply first.
they are preloved items, the listings didn't mention the stains or the other faults but I also didn't ask if the items had any stains, burns or cuts, can I still open a dispute or is it just bad luck and part of buying preloved clothing?
if I can get the stains out then I can wear one item and try to fix the other problems on the 2nd item but if the stains don't come out they are wearable if you don't mind the stained look.
thank you for your help

That wouldn't be fair on the original poster or anyone else.
As with anything else, it's the approach. A polite request with proof, not an abusive hammering.
But I never said it was a right.
I said she should decide, meaning did she want to ask, or would she be happy to take a cleaning refund it if offered. Nothing else.
I think you may have read that word to mean more than it did.
So I hope that's clarified and that you understand I also see your position regarding fraud.

I always ask twice when it's something like this, so I won't get into trouble.
Maybe I don't want to sell now...are there more scammers now? oh dear 😞

I find it interesting that some members seem to think it's okay to criticise others because they don't agree with the others' opinions, yet seem to feel they can spout anything they have an opinion on as gospel. Regardless of whether they have an IMO included, which they usually don't.

You must be reading a different thread to us then.
OP, I am pretty suire that you understand that Amber was not implying that you make a rude demand for a partial refund, merely raising it as an option to consider when negotiating with your trading partner. As Amber has pointed out, it is perfectly acceptable for you to let the seller know that if they were agreeable to such a proposal that you would consider such an arrangement (if you would).
You do need to be cautious in your wording when you approach such a situation so that it doesn't appear as a demand, as you cannot demand or declare repercussions for not supplying a service that a seller has do not stated in their listing.
Best of luck with it all.

I expressed an opinion based on dealing with over 1000 sellers. There have been, as you might imagine, some issues.
It is perfectly fine to ask/negotiate with a seller before entering into official disputes, that's not my opinion, it's fact.
You saw that as encouragement to scammers. It was answering the question.
As I said, I was fine with this thread and all posts.
It was done, and at no point did I take offense or anything.

Then the post wasn't directed at you. Depending on your definition of criticism, of course.

Then who was it directed to ?
Bit unfair to "accuse" and not fess up and state why.
Based on posting history we disagree on fair whack of matters - so if you are not having a go at me, I apologise, if you were, I don't.
By the way Dave can you just let that other poster know I don't respond to terolls. Maybe one day I might. Thanks
