If it came to your email address forward it too spoof@paypal.com and they can look into it and will let you know it is fake.

Sparklz, there is no point reporting it to paypal as it did not come from paypal....it came from the buyer, direct to the OPs email addy.

It's a phishing Email
This email confirms that you’ve nominated PayPal to receive an instant purchase payment of $50.00 AUD for your eBay item
If you simply look at that you can see that it only mentions an eBay item.
A genuine PP Email should state the item number.
Simply click the link below to accept payment
As stated,PP don't ask you to click on links,(they ask you to log in via your browser or through your safe log in),:-D

Lyndal all I am saying is that PP will verify it is NOT from them.

Dear Lyndal1838
Spoof@Paypal.com is exactly the place to report this phishing scam to, as that is what they are there for, to confirm or deny that it is a real Paypal notification.
They can also keep track of people trying to use their name to defraud customers and hopefully shut them down.
I like to think that they have a room full of Paypal Nerds in masks & shiny capes, sitting around eating burger rings, with a range of really nasty trojan viruses ready to send to any phishing scam they find. ZAP!! POW!!

this was a BIN sale ..a few days ago.. buyer sent me this email

but there is no payment pending in my paypal account and when I click on view paypal transaction ..it says
the transaction ID in your link is invalid
scam or what?
All PayPal payments come from the buyer's email address, at least every single one I've ever received has, and I get the message re: invalid transactions from clicking the eBay link even when the payment has gone through without a hitch, so that alone isn't cause for concern.
It's also very odd that eBay is giving you the option to view the PayPal transaction, as that generally means that they have at least gone through checkout and confirmed a PayPal payment.
I'm not saying you should click on the link in the email, but you should definitely investigate a little further, as it may be that they have sent a payment to an incorrect address, although I'm not 100% sure you'd get a payment notification if that were the case.

I have been getting two or three spoofs a day for the last 3 weeks or so with the same content. You can usually link the start of the emails with a website where you used the email address ie. 3 weeks ago I bunged some stuff up on my gumtree account and the next morning the spoofs started flowing in.
I just bumped the gumtree ads so I am expecting another flurry.
Enthusiasts sites (car and collector enthusiast sites for me) are also a good email harvest ground for the scammers.

I have reported this to ebay and they said they have taken care of it , no real information as to whether it's legit or not
I sent it to spoof paypal and haven't heard back from them
and now I get a reminder what appears to be from paypal this time to click on link to claim my payment
has anyone here ever had to click on a link to claim payment ?
I never have

I never have
You never click on any link to claim a payment.
You only ever claim a payment through your Paypal account via a secure log in.
