delays in posting

Hi everyone Smiley Happy

Just wondering if anyone else has had a rise in the number of customers asking where there item is.]

Ordinarily i may encounter this once every few months but over the last couple of weeks i've had quiet a few inquiring (approx ๐Ÿ˜Ž  with one never arriving..

I checked Australia Post online and it states there are delays "to fire and flood affected areas" but my customers inquiries are coming from all over Australia.

Ive been posting from the same post office for over 3 years and find them very good and efficient.

Thanks in advance

Re: delays in posting

Oh thank godness its not just me. Since december 15 I have had 4 click and send parcels go missing, I had lodgement receipts etc, they were sympathetic but said tough luck you should have had insurance, really, I thought we paid high postage prices so our parcels arrived safely, Mid Jan it took a week for 1 parcel to go from my house to Sydney 1 hour away, if posted my end by 4.15pm it gets delivered in sydney next day.

My brother had a birth certificate sent to his rural home town. By the time it was finally sent he was visiting on holidays, so he asked aus post if he could have it redirected to here. Well 6 days later nothing, it was registered so we were able to track it. Once it left the original destination poof nothing. After 2 weeks he went home, (its a small town that he has lived in all his life) so he spoke to the guy at the mail centre and he said hey i absolutely sent it and he had someone said they watched him do it. Well another week later they found it in Albury and 5 days after that it arrived at my local post office, who then sent it back. Hmm it was delivered in Sydney 3 days later, about 800 ks from its destination.

I have had people question if i even posted it, even though it is click and send ebay satchels or ebay postage and lodged either the same day or the next day, depending on purchase time.

Its disgusting that we pay so much for postage when the service is snail paced. They obviously need to employ more staff/contractors. Im over hearing they are going broke because of emails etc. With ebay and online shopping services they have never had it so good.

Sorry for dribbling, have been wanting to know if it was something i was doing wrong, I feel a bit better now. Woman Frustrated

'they were sympathetic but said tough luck you should have had insurance, really, I thought we paid high postage prices so our parcels arrived safely,'.

I cannot accept that Aust Post employees are making these sort of statements.  Don't get me wrong - I've heard them say it to me before.  And trying to get a complaint re broken items resolved can take up to 4 months of major frustration.

I feel that it is time to get in touch with the Ombudsman.  As said by easywaydvds 'we paid high postage prices...', and Aust Post have a duty of care to ensure our mail/packages are delivered, and on time.   Aust Post are the entity that brought in the tracking system which makes them more accountable  to ensure mail under their care is delivered appropriately.  It is totally irresponsible to just say 'tough luck'.

If everyone who has a legitimate grievance about missing articles/letters contacted the Ombudsman, maybe, just maybe, something might happen in the right direction.  If there is an avalanche of people lodging complaints, someone in the Ombudsman's office is going to have to instigate an investigation.

But if we all sit back, and just do a whinge on eBay boards - nothing will change.  And Aust Post will continue to say 'tough luck...'

Re: delays in posting

On the other hand....

I mailed one of our items by large letter.

It left us here from a roadside red box in Deception Bay (Brisbane Northside) on the 5pm pickup on Friday 14th evening.

On Sunday 16th, (yes 2-days later and on a weekend) I had my customer send me an amazed message to say they had collected it from their PO Box address in Wellington NSW on Saturday morning.

How can it be that quick and on a weekend?

I was floored by that one.

Re: delays in posting

I posted a parcel to my daughter, granted, only 120 miles away, at 12.40 pm on a Monday and she received it at 10.45 am Tuesday, the very  next day.

We were flabbergasted!
