dodgy buyer problem

about 20 minutes ago i got an enquiry from a buyer in singapore requesting postage cost.

i messaged back i dont post to asia then put a block on his user name.

his username was registered today!

so now the item has sold to what i believe is the same person using another new username.

I'm curious as to where they live. If you check the paypal fees, if they're overseas the fees will be 3.6% + 30c instead of the usual 2.6% + 30c.

If they're using a forwarding address that just has a code instead of a person's name, AP don't cover these for SOD or insurance, or didn't last time I checked. I fairly recently cancelled a sale to a Chinese woman for this reason and gave the reason as a problem with the buyer's address.

i firmly believe its the same guy in western australia who left negative feedback to me and now realises that his neg was removed and is now upping the anger to trying to purchase more stuff from me and putting in claims of item not recieved or not as described ect in order to recieve a refund.

or just to mess with me for fun

he may well be in kahoots with a mate as the addresses are 2 different post codes in western australia

Re: dodgy buyer problem

Yes, some people are insistent upon revenge. I see it all the time - sellers wanting to leave negatives for people who don't pay or are slow paying, but they don't realise it'll only bring heaps of trouble for themselves.

Re: dodgy buyer problem

In the postage preferences, isn't there an option to exclude certain areas (domestic) in Australia? I'm just wondering if you can put a block on sales to WA temporarily.

Re: dodgy buyer problem

as it stands, unless there is a new offer by ebay re final value fees i will be reducing my listings to almost nothing for a while in about a week from now.

while i wait and see.

so that might stop this guy

Re: dodgy buyer problem

I'm pretty certain you can block specific areas of Australia, probably by postcode, ie. 6000-6999 or whatever.  People who sell plants would use that facility.

Re: dodgy buyer problem

OK, I've just gone to the postage settings in my site preferences and you definitely can block both Perth metro and WA regional/remote.

Not sure if it applies to future listings or is applied to current listings.

Re: dodgy buyer problem

David, that's a good result!

This will (should) mean that the buyer has a little black mark against his name for having attempted to circumvent your buyer requirements and attempted to make a purchase with the probable intention of giving revenge feedback. You've avoided this particular sale and put yourself in a favourable position should a future transaction cause your gut to say "Danger! Danger, Will Robinson!"

Re: dodgy buyer problem

I just hope that ebay has understood David's problem and David doesn't receive a strike for not going ahead with the sale.

I would have done what gutterpunk suggested instead as that's a process which ebay allow.

Personally I would be going by an ebay policy rather than trying to explain to CS as we all know their track record of understanding lol.
